Help identifying this snake in Akron, OH

Hello -

Came across this snake around the house and wanted to confirm if this is a ribbon or gartner snake (non-venomous). I have seen small snakes around the house or in the lawn before - but the size of this got me little worried. This around 4 feet.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure what kind of snake it is, its hard for me to see it. I wanted to say hello because we are very near each other! I'm 15 minutes east of cleveland. It's not often i find others from the area here.

That looks like a female garter snake that is about to give birth to a bunch of babies! Don't worry about its size.

I keep two garters who are about two years old and they are three feet long, but slender since they're still young and are not pregnant.

Four feet isn't out of the ordinary for a mature female.

Yeah definitely some type of thamnophis (garter, ribbon...) and 100% not dangerous. In fact these guys are pretty good to have around your house as they will eat most little unwanted pests! It also looks like its going to give birth which will be pretty cool! And 4 feet, while being a big garter, isn't out of the ordinary at all, so there is no need to get frightened from this guy.
