Re: Help ID Snake in Attic

Beautiful snake. Consider him nature's pest control. Also, thank you for not killing him. It's really disappointing when a lot of these snake ID threads are from recently killed snakes.

Re: Can Someone Help Me Identify This Snake In My Yard?

It's a cottonmouth. Also, there was no reason to kill it. It could have been safely relocated.

Re: New to snakes and need help

I would say try a western hognose or sand boa. Before you make a purchase, PLEASE research thoroughly on the care!

Re: easiest reptile for children

I think he's kinda young for a reptile if you ask me. Smaller children are notorious for accidentally injuring or killing reptiles. Their care is too much for a really young kid to handle.

Unless...

This is a very good point as well.

Re: Getting an Adult Corn Used to Handling

Seems like you're doing fine to me. Eventually he'll get used to the handling. He seems young enough to tame down much easier then an older snake.

Re: Corn Snake Advice?

Before you begin to handle him, make sure he is eating fine. You don't wanna stress the little guy out too much.

Re: Is this man being responsible with these hot snakes?

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately knew who you were talking about. The man is knowledgable about snakes no doubt about it but I don't agree with the unnecessary risks that he takes...

Re: When is it too much?

As long as you have the finances to keep these snakes with the best possible care, then it's ok. I rather see animals set up comfortably versus a bunch of snakes crammed in rack set ups that are too...

Re: FL Permit Question

I went to the December Repticon too. Did you see the bat eaters!? They were beautiful.

Re: Drove over a rattlesnake. Venom on tires?

Hey, at least he's asking a question rather than assuming something. I don't see a real problem with the question. Some people don't understand venom like others do.

Re: Single snake owners?

I own my first and only snake still. I guess it's a sentimental thing for me. I raised her as a baby when I was barely 11 years old and now I'm turning 22 in two weeks. She's still going strong...

Re: Sumatra python

You never really know if they did the research though. What if he did research but wants some further elaboration from experienced keepers? I mean I can go around every thread saying "read a book"...

Re: The great feeding debate. Out or in the in Enclosure

Just tell your husband to feed in the enclosure and you'll have a happier snake. :) Last thing you wanna do is move a snake to a different enclosure in feeding mode.

Re: A Warning about the ASPCA

Why not ban domestic felines that have caused the extinction of 33 species of birds? These organizations pick and choose what they stand for.

Re: What breed of snake is my snake

Looks like a red tail to me. How did you obtain a snake that you don't know what the species is?

Re: Where are y'all buying frozen mice?

At the moment I just buy frozen rats from my local reptile shop. Usually I use Feeder Source at the Repticon shows.

Re: African rock python question

Pics please! I'm a huge fan of the rock pythons. As for your question, I don't have much experience with the giants so hopefully someone else will answer your question thoroughly for you.

Re: Post photos of your snake bites!

Unfortunately that is a beginner mistake right there. Feeding snakes inside their enclosure doesn't make them aggressive or "bitey."
