Re: Sinaloan snake problems!

Sorry for the late response. My best guess(since the vet had no advice) was that somehow a stuck she'd got stuck over it's nostrils, which led to a panicked thrash which injured it's neck. The low...

Re: Sinaloan snake problems!

I took the snake in to the local animal ER, and got no help whatsoever. They wanted to do lots of labwork(which is sensible but costly) and offered no suggestions as to the cause or condition....

Well, it's Tuesday once again. I left two small rats for the VBB and left the house, hopefully they are gone when I get back.

Re: VBB not eating.

Thanks for all the replies, and the confidence! I was getting tired of tossing those feeders out every week, now I'll slow down the feedings and save a few bucks. I wish this snake ate like my...

Re: VBB not eating.

Sorry about the lack of details. It's a male VBB that is 3.5 years old, and feeding day has been every Tuesday since he was a month old. It's about 75f on the cooler side, and almost 90f under the...

VBB not eating.

This seems to be a regular discussion point, but I've never seen behavior like this before so maybe some reassurance is all i need to hear.

My VBB used to eat on a regular basis for the past 3.5...

Re: House Snake On the Lam

I was employed to find an escaped ball python once, it took a few hours but was successful. Search around warm air ductwork and furnaces, remember snakes can get almost anywhere and will park for a...

Re: Meet Jenkins, the Vietnamese Blue Beauty.

It seems that my photo host is holding my pics hostage for cash. I'll try to work around this asap, sorry! Jenkins is big and hungry, shedding more often than ever! Will post pics when I can.

Re: Snakes talking.

He was very knowledgeable about many species, and sounded like he knew a lot. I really would like to know where he heard these stories. I know snakes can make several sounds, but nowhere near the...

Snakes talking.

Last weekend I met a man who breeds several species of snakes, and was carrying his 11 foot albino python and showing it to people. It was constantly huffing a loud exhale, and I told the guy that...

Re: Meet Jenkins, the Vietnamese Blue Beauty.

It's been a while since I posted, but here are some pics I took of Jenkins today. I still don't trust him enough to take photos when I am not holding him, so you will just see a lot of balled up...

Re: Doing Snake Presentation at School

I'm the person who uses disposable hand warmers to transport snakes. If you do not put them in a towel or cloth bag, they will not work effectively at generating heat. You also have to make sure...

Re: Looking for feedback.

I would have, but forgot my video camera in the hustle of getting two snakes settled in. I still have a few more pics to upload, but am going on a vacation this weekend.

Re: Looking for feedback.

I did bring some shed skin, and everything went great! the snakes did very well, the crowds did very well and it was fun watching other snake owners try to guess what the VBB was.

Re: Doing Snake Presentation at School

I did a presentation yesterday and several people asked why the snakes don't bite. We talked about why other animals don't bite, and why people don't bite each other. Explain about why animals defend...

Re: Looking for feedback.

The news shoot went well today. The milk snake had no troubles, and the only sign of stress was a bit of poo from the bumpy car ride home. Disposable hand warmers in a cloth bag work very well for...

Re: What is on your wishlist?

I would love a False Water Cobra, but do not have the space/finances to keep another reptile yet. That's just fine, because I can research the heck out of them before I get one. IMHO that's the best...
