Re: Shift Box?

Boamaster used to make nice trap boxes. I know that Paul from PM Herps will also custom build them for you.

Re: Baby sidewinder

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a "pygmy sidewinder." There are sidewinder subspecies, but they are named by locale. There's a pygmy rattlesnake (Sistrurus spp.) but that is not a sidewinder.

Re: Y'all have any new 2015 additions?

I added an adult male Taylor's cantil (Agkistrodon billineatus taylori). I haven't snapped any pictures of him yet, as I'm letting him settle in before I hang around his cage too much. He's very...

Re: Bush vipers

Koosman09, my bush viper is the only survivor from her litter as far as I know; she's a hybrid. Is yours a pure squamiger?

Re: Annnd Once again, mites.

If you usually go to a certain same pet store for your supplies (bedding, feeders, etc), I would strongly suggest finding a new supplier. It's possible that the pet shop was infested and you brought...

Re: Delta Dash Venomous Shipping

Unfortunately I do not have them anymore. I ordered a pair for myself and one male for a friend. My pair were thriving and doing great, but my friend's died. Then about 6 months in, I had a heater...

Re: Delta Dash Venomous Shipping

I had rhino vipers shipped to me Delta Dash last spring. They came in a locked orange Home Depot toolbox. The species, sex, and number of animals were included in a shipping label attached to the...

Re: Getting Gabby

I would like to make a video of it; it's just hard to predict when she will be in a "talkative" mood. She is not like that every night, although she always acknowledges me with at least a small...

Re: Getting Gabby

Thank you! She's really awesome to deal with. I'm learning that she's a pretty curious Gaboon. Her cage is the bottom one in the stack, and if I sit in front of her cage, she will come to the front...

Re: Public perception of snake?

Wow...as others have said, that was completely unprofessional. I would have demanded to speak with a manager, and called Fedex's customer service number.

I've had only one (rather humorous)...

Re: Cobras for Derek1

Yes, more or less. I have always thought the vipers were beautiful and fascinating animals; I just never imagined myself keeping them. After you get used to progressively larger and more intense...

Re: Cobras for Derek1

Jossh27,

In PA where I live, there are no state-wide restrictions on keeping venomous snakes. Some localities do have bans or other restrictions, but for the most part as long as it's not native...

Re: lets see whats rare out there

I have a Trimeresurus yunnanensis- Yunnan Province Bamboo pit viper. This species was only discovered about 5 years ago and this girl was one of the first shipment into this country. She's small and...

Re: Bitis gabonica

Very nice Gaboon, Jerry! I LOVE Gabbies; they're so much fun to work with and so impressive. My 3 each have their own personality too. Just amazing animals!

Re: Crotalus oreganus

Very nice oreganus! I've had them before; they are pretty little buzztails that seem to be fairly easy-going. Best of luck with him!

Re: Venomous Snake Cages

I don't keep any hots in tanks. I personally prefer front-opening cages. I've read in numerous scientific articles, as well as heard from several long-time keepers, that the snakes' natural predators...

Re: Gtp x sd retic

Hmm, I guess I forgot about all the reclassifications happening in snake genetics lately, and the things like the "wall" python.
I still do not think that an arboreal python, especially a small one...

Re: Gtp x sd retic

It is not possible to breed a retic with a green tree python, as the genera of the two species are different. The existing snake hybrids all stick within the same genus (burm x retic= Python; GTP x...

Re: Getting Gabby

Kyle, she is quite calm. I'm glad, because she is massive and powerful.

One of the nicer things about Gaboons is that, in spite of their size and venom, they tend to be fairly laid-back animals....

Re: Getting Gabby

I took a few videos and uploaded them to Photobucket. Can I post videos from there? I'd rather not try to upload them to YouTube- it's too much of a hassle and I don't want to deal with idiots...

Re: Getting Gabby

Gabby happily chowed down on two jumbo rats for me last night. I'm going to have to get larger prey items for her it seems, as two rats didn't even leave a slight bulge. I know she was eating...
