Re: Baby Corn Won't eat

Ok cool. Thanks for the follow-up info.

You MAY need to downsize the enclosure for a while. That's pretty big for a juvenile corn. But I'd try a few more times.

It's great that you're not...

Re: Baby Corn Won't eat

A few things come to mind...

A) how big is the enclosure?
B) are you handling the snake at all?
C) how are you preparing and offering prey?
D) how often are you offering?

Your snake isn't...

Re: Newcomer and question

I've actually had better luck with longer handling sessions.

Think of it this way...

What's causing the snake stress when you go into the enclosure??? Yup, you. You are basically a giant...

Re: HELP: Stuck shed

Actually, snakes DO stay on their hot spot 24/7... ALL THE TIME... Whenever digesting and often while in shed, both of which take days or sometimes over a week. All of my snakes through 15+ years...

Re: HELP: Stuck shed

Hmmmm...that makes sense i suppose, but I can't imagine air flow is completely restricted. And you'd have to leave the snake in there a LONG time

Re: HELP: Stuck shed

I'm still not getting it. How does a snake get stuck under newspaper???
And was it just a typo or brain fart or are you mistaking a thermometer with a thermostat. (You said "thermometer"). They're...

Re: HELP: Stuck shed

A) I'd never heard of a snake dying in a wet pillowcase. How did they die?? Seems unlikely to me.

B) I'm still hella confused how the tail was injured. Being "trapped" under newspaper? I don't...

Re: HELP: Stuck shed

My only snake that gives me any trouble shedding is my KSB. With him I'll wet a snake bag or pillow case and put him in for a while. He usually gets most of it himself while in the bag, but I've had...

Re: Heat placement question

I wouldn't worry as much about ambient temps with a species like a sand boa as I would surface temps. Your snake will spend the vast majority of the time burrowed anyway. That's why it's important to...

Re: Got new corn, is she in blue phase?

It doesn't look like a shed to me. I think the eyes would be much more "cloudy" although it can be tough to tell with albinos.

If I had to guess, I'd guess she's just acclimating to her new home....

Re: getting a snake

This is probably the first positive review I've heard of snakesatsunset.

I may be mistaken, but I believe they are snake flippers and not breeders.
Any which way, I've heard enough negative...

How much does she weigh and what size is her tub?

How old is she? Has she eaten at all for you? When was her last meal?

How often are you offering? Offering too often only adds stress and...

Re: Beginner

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a BP. They're extremely docile, slow moving and handle very well. They can be a bit finicky with eating, but if you do your homework you'll be prepared.
They stay...

Re: My elderly corn snake keeps biting herself

To say corns don't typically need their humidity monitored is false. Although they are fine within the ranges of most of our relative humidity where we live. So, many keepers don't have to make any...

Re: My elderly corn snake keeps biting herself

Hmmmm... Interesting behavior. I noticed my King biting himself a few times, but I just chalked it up to him being a crazy King. He didn't hold on either. He'd bite, almost like a good strike, but...

Re: possible snake issues

This is why we don't pull the skin off. If it doesn't wipe off easily it's not ready to come off.

I've fortunately never dealt with an injury like that, so can't offer assistance. Just use this...

Re: Pulled away from a bite, did I hurt her?

The main thing to look for is missing teeth. If any did come out they're likely still in your hand. If you don't feel any signs of teeth in your hand she's most likely fine.

If you do feel teeth...

Re: 5 Month Food Strike

The guidelines are correct, but they're exactly that.... guidelines. It's not set in stone or one size fits all. Sometimes we need stray a bit to make things work for individual animals.

Through...
