Re: Sea snake killed 4 teens in 1962 - any clue on what species?

Electric eels are freshwater though, so it couldn't have been one of those. I agree with you though that it is doubtful that it could have been a sea snake, due to range, and the behavior sounds......

Re: Question about a snake I found in my garage

Ok, yes in the books I have that are from 10 or 15 years ago, they are classified as Elaphe. But looking online you are right that it has been reclassified. Thanks for the info.

Re: Question about a snake I found in my garage

agreed, it is definitely something similar. I would think it is a rat snake of some kind, like a corn. Either way, it is harmless.

Re: Hi!

Yeah, with the number of people who have come here looking for Dekay's brown snakes, I think you could probably make a small fortune by breeding them.

Welcome to the forum!

Re: Bitten by my coastal, local numbness

I haven't had anything like that happen, since I am yet to own a large snake, but my uncle who bred boas was bitten by one once and found out a few weeks after the bite that he had a tooth stuck in...

Re: I.D. snake in Georgia (USA), please

I agree with poison123, depending on it's size, I think it is a dekays brown snake, but the pixelation of the image makes it very difficult to say for sure.

Re: Stuart Milk snake advice

I wouldn't worry about it. I know of snakes that have stayed under the substrate for weeks without coming out, and snakes can go months (not to say yours will do this) without food so it will be...

Re: Please help me I need advice quickly

I agree with poison123 in that I don't think switching the corn to weekly feedings directly will affect it, as in the wild snakes are oportunistic feeders (as i'm sure you already know) and have no...

Hi!
Sorry... haha I feel so dumb! Anyway, I agree with you that the snake looks very different, it was simply from the quick research I did (on snakes of papua new guinea...) that it looked the most...

Re: Help to identify Black Snake from Guinea

Just from doing a quick search, it appears to be a PNG Montane Keelback snake. This species is nonvenomous, however since I have not done much reasearch in that area, I would still be very careful...

Re: Help! Id this aggressive snake! Stalking my animals!

agreed. I don't think this is large enough snake to really be a threat to any birds (even something like chicken chicks I would think would be too large...)

Re: Help! Id this aggressive snake! Stalking my animals!

it's some type of garter snake, completely harmless, and I wouldn't worry about it. Since you speak of it in past tense I assume you already dealt with it, but in general these species is nothing to...

Re: What kind of snake is this?

Yes it is a copperhead and they are venomous and potentially dangerous so you should be very cautious with it. I would reccommend you relocate it to somewhere where it will not come in contact with...

Re: Cockroaches in snake tank?

I think the Cockroaches could in theory harm the snake (similar to crickets) by chewing on it, so if I were you I would try to prevent them from getting in. I don't know what you tank looks like, but...

Re: What snake is it? Poisonous?

I live in Spain too (Near Pamplona)!
Anyway, that appears to be a ladder snake (Rhinechis scalaris). These snakes have teeth, but no venom, so although they are a very intimidating snake species, it...
