Travel Question

Hi all! I’m considering getting a bearded dragon and researching right now. Thinking and planning ahead, I’m wondering what you all do when you travel, for a week or longer. I have somebody who would take care of it while we are away, but I just think if it’s for a longer trip, it would be easier to bring it over to their house.

How would that work logistically?? Does anybody have a smaller, “travel” set up for their beardie to board them in other places? Or do you just have people come over to your place to care for them?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really have no idea and I want to have a plan in place before I commit!

Thank you for any insight!

Some places just have boarding options like specialty pet stores.

Welcome to the community.

Well you are defiantly thinking ahead which is good. I usually have friends come over to look after my pets, but I have also brought them over to friends houses if I was going away for an extended period of time. It all depends on the size and type of pet. Usually people have to come over if they are looking after anything aquatic for example. :)

Re: Travel Question

Thank you so much for your replies! After more research and a lot of consideration, we decided to go with a crested gecko instead. It will just be easier for our lifestyle. This is actually a birthday gift for my reptile obsessed 10 year old and even though a bearded dragon was his first choice, he is happy with the gecko as his first foray into reptiles.

With the gecko, among other things, it will be much easier to transfer the enclosure when we travel.

Thank you again for your help!
