Re: Shedding Problems?

Hi! I suggest you put a simple humid hide (clean margerine container with a damp towel in it and an arched hole for entrance and egress) in your enclosure regardless of the water dish and try to...

Re: Not shedding?

Do you have a humid hide in your habitat? This can really help if your snake's shed is "stuck."

Re: Bathroom Schedules

My beardie goes every time I take him out of his enclosure to walk around. It's actually quite nice--easy cleanup on the lino anyway! At the moment he is in brumation and I haven't seen anything for...

Re: Naturalistic Terrarium

My Kenyan Sand Boa is in a 24X12X16 (LXWXH) and is very happy in it. You may like to try this for your enclosure--just make sure you have something he can climb on and a good amount of bedding as...

Re: Not shedding?

My Kenyan Sand Boa is the same way--needs to be confined with its food. He also needs me to make the dead mouse move and attack in order for him to "go" for the food in the first place!

Re: Brumation--how long for an adult beardie?

Small world, isn't it???
I'll leave Casey for the time being and just monitor his environment. Hopefully he wakes up before school lets out in June 'cause I have a couple of nephews that would like...

Re: Brumation--how long for an adult beardie?

The hide he is under is open on both ends and he switches his head from one side to the other every couple of weeks. His uvb light extends the entire length of his enclosure so I hope it is sneaking...

Re: Not shedding?

Hope your corn eats for you and grows. As it grows, it sheds: pretty simple as long as all the conditions are met and you have a healthy snake. Good luck!!!

Question Brumation--how long for an adult beardie?

My bearded dragon has been in brumation since September. He doesn't seem to be getting any smaller as he sleeps and he's changed positions a couple of times, but he's been laying under a hide for...

Re: Scared for my boa

Incredible--you, your snake and your vet. This world just seems to get better...one day at a time! Congrats on the progress!

Re: somethings wrong with my snake

I really hope you get this figured out! How's he doing today--any better? If you think it's a humidity issue, there is no reason not to place a humid hide in his tank for a day or so. Good luck and...

Re: somethings wrong with my snake

My sister-in-law has the same snake as you and it really looks like yours may be "blue"--i.e. going into shed. It may also be going into brumation if it's getting slow. Let us know if it is something...

Re: Long lost member!

Thanks so much! I have a 1.5 year old kenyan sand boa and a three year old bearded dragon. My kids bought me the boa and I rescued the beardie from my oldest son's friend. The beardie has been...

Long lost member!

Hello Everyone! It's been far too long since I was on the forum, but I decided to take some time off to work outside the home for a while. I'm so glad to be back--I've missed everyone's advice and...

Re: Lets see your Terrarium

Just to let you know...my lamp is a basking lamp, but it is on a timer and goes off for twelve hours every evening. Under the substrate on the lamp side is actually cooler than the 85 degrees that it...

Re: Lets see your teranium

My terrarium is a 20gal aquarium with a heating pad under one third and a lamp over the other side. I use aspen chips so my ksb can tunnel as much as she wants. The water dish sits at the coolest...

Re: Shedding information

Hi Nikki! It sounds as if you've been given a lot of good advice. My ksb shed about four times in a row because of being clawed by a cat and she didn't eat for six weeks around the same time so just...

Re: How often do you handle your snakes?

I have a small sand boa and I take her out when I exchange her water around mid-week for a little loving and then I handle her on Sundays before I feed her and clean her cage. Otherwise I rarely see...

Re: What boa stays the smallest as an adult?

I don't know why nobody has suggested a sand boa. These little guys stay very small although you won't see them much as they are burrowers and love to travel underneath the substrate. They are also...

Re: My new boy is home, BUT I'M LIVID!!!!!

I honestly admire you for actually paying for this Lucky fellow! I'd have offered to take him off her hands for free just so she was rid of it. Honestly, you've done a great thing! I offer you the...

Silly?? Not at all, NennaMarket! I think I am with you in terms of the actual look of the aquariums versus the plastic racks! I guess if I was planning to host multiple reptiles in my home, I'd go...

Re: Begginings of a new enclosure

I am impressed with how you have done your water feature--it looks great. My brother did a similar thing for his newts way back when, but did not do as good a job as you with the silicone!! May your...
