Re: Supplements for red tail

No need for any supplementation, the feeders should have everything they need. Adding supplementation risks overdosing on those vitamins.

She will get to "max size" on a proper feeding schedule,...

Re: Food for red tail boa

2 mice have more fat, calories, protein, etc. than a single rat (or mouse) of the same weight. It's harder to digest, and I've seen keepers experience bloating when feeding multiples. Though to be...

Re: Not eaten for over a month

I agree, probably overfeeding. I haven't yet kept a species I'd consider feeding twice a week. Even my garter eating pinky halves never ate more than once a week. I hear most keepers advise...

Re: Food for red tail boa

I wouldn't personally, it isn't healthy. She'll be fine either eating the smaller prey for a bit longer, or I'd just go ahead and get the next size up. You could see if anyone local needs those...

Re: Albino Burmese Python

Double check your temps, too. Make sure all heat sources are on thermostats. You'll want a digital thermometer to measure ambient temps, and a temp gun for surface temps. Some temp guns measure...

So sorry for your loss. :( It's always hard, but she lived a nice long life.

Re: RHP for pvc enclosure

How cold is the room? 80 watts is overkill in my 4'x2'x2's. I used 120 watts in my 6'x2'x3's, with a space heater to keep the room warm, otherwise I needed a 100 watt CHE to help out.

Re: Feeding schedule for red tail

Imo, no rodent-eating snake should eat more often than 7 days. Even my checkered garter got pink halves every 7 days. For baby boas, I stick more to 10-14 days, 7-10 is the most often I'd consider...

Re: Red Tail and Handlers

My biggest boas are only 6.5' and 7'. Both are quite easy to handle on my own. I might consider another person around the 8' mark, but sizes at 8' aren't quite as common, and you're even less...

Re: Need help with underweight/underfed boa asap

Her size itself isn't a concern imo. You don't want to feed her to get her up to size, all snakes grow at their own pace. Feed her a rat roughly equal to her girth every other week, and she should...

Re: Reptile basic rhp questions

Yeah definitely try Pro Products. I used 120 watts in my 6'x3'x2's (LxHxW), and I had to have a 100 watt CHE on the other end, on top of a space heater for the room. Otherwise, I had to drape...

Re: New here quick bp question

Yup, if it was sold as a cinny, I see no reason to doubt it, either. I'm not a bp person, but he definitely looks a bit more colorful, contrasted, and aberrant than most normals.

Re: Meet Gomez the Guyana bcc

Boas change a ton throughout their life. My normal looked different at 2-3 years old than he did the day I got him. He looked different at 5 than he did at 3, and looks different now that he's 7...

Re: Sterelite Tub heating.

Unless you're feeding conservatively, or he's a very high percentage or pure SD, a 4'x2' will not last you a year. 6' is pretty average size for mainland yearlings, and some get even larger. I...

Re: Boa Feeding Project (Need your help!)

I don't have any boas anywhere near an expected life expectancy. lol But the oldest snake I have that I've raised from a baby is 7 years old now, Cloud.

When I first got Cloud, I was feeding him...

Re: Python habitat noob questions...

Bps can 100% be started out in larger cages. If they want to go ahead and utilize the big cage, they can. If they're worried, they can use a small tub for quarantine until they're sure that it's...

Re: Another Boa Update

Yeah they've been growing a lot, even without any real changes in their diet. Crona and Nymeria are the two right at the edge of moving up, I just haven't been alternating Nymeria because Howl will...

Re: Ball python acting strange...

I would take the mister out and see if that helps, some snakes just absolutely hate being misted. I have a few that get stressed out when sprayed, and will strike or hiss/huff at me.

With...

Any of those options would work, depends on what you want to do and what works best for you. But all of those options are viable and doable.

Re: Cleft Pallet in a Hog Island Boa

Agree with Andy. Inbreeding can be a problem with Hogs since the gene pool is so small, especially with pure Hogs, since all importation has been banned for a long time. Resulting in small or large...

Re: 3 year old BP only 490 Grams?

There is no weight or size a snake "should" be at any given age. They all grow at their own rates. I've seen even bps fed 10-15% of their weight every 5-7 days end up only 200-250 grams or so at a...

A visual representation of Cloud over the past 2 years or so.

Back in 2015 I moved into the really gross trailer I used to live in. After about a year there, I started to notice he was losing...

I haven't taken any lengths recently, but here are some updates.

First off, the biggest update is that Cloud and River finally have their temporary cages. Their old wooden ones got destroyed...

Re: Jerkface is Trying to be a Vegan

His situation definitely doesn't sound promising, fingers crossed he starts to gain weight for you soon. I agree, force feeding is likely very important here. What I'd be worried about is scarring...
