I recently bought a baby KSB. I haven't had the chance to weigh him yet, but he's around 8 inches long. I fed him for the first time on Wednesday, and he ate no problem. This morning, he was "stalking" or, in ambush mode rather. I've never owned a KSB before. Does this mean that he might still be hungry? I fed him a pinky on Wednesday. Should I try feeding him again?

I would feed your new baby Kenyan once every 5 days or so. I have a young female snow around the size of your new one, and she is eating 2 pinkies every 5 days, which fills her up quite well. On the next feeding, i would see if it will take 2 pinkies.

I fed Arklay again today, and he seemed to really enjoy it. Our rat snake will only eat when hungry, is it the same with Kenyans?

No. Many snakes would eat as often as you offered food; my kingsnakes included. They evolved to be opportunistic, as in the wild they have to take advantage of any meal that comes along. In captivity, this can lead to obese animals; because they arent having to search out their prey, and the prey we feed is often more nutritionally dense (in top shape, fat) that a wild equivalent.

You should only feed your baby KSB once every 5-7 days, depending on what size prey you are feeding. Once it is an adult, you should feed it once every 7-10 days. Eating very frequntly isnt very good for the snake, ideally they should have some 'off days' to digest the previous prey item.
