So Kahless stopped eating a couple weeks ago...just found out why yesterday. His warm side went down to 80 degrees! Not sure how, unless the thermostat dial got bumped. I'm trying to get it warmed back up, but as I turn the dial on the thermostat the temp is barely going up.

Is something wrong with the stat or the mat? How do I find out?

Both the mat and thermostat are under a year old.

I'm full of questions suddenly LOL

What brand is your stat? If it's a cheaper one that could be a big possibility. My Hydrofarm does the job but it can take awhile to readjust if the temperature is changed.

Check to see if there is any small burns near the connectors on the mat as well, may also be the issue :)

move the thermostat probe further away from the mat, then if the tempersature rises, you know its the thermostat probe position thats causing it

if you take the probe off the mat and the heat does not increase, then its the mat thats faulty

if you take the probe off tha mat and the heat rises, then its a thermostat problem

cheers shaun

Or the thermostat isn't opening up.

Try removing the snake and plugging the heat mat straight into an outlet. If the mat heats up it is the thermostat.

I think I may have solved the problem. Stupid mistake on my part. The probe was stuck in the wrong place.... *duh*

Thanks though for your answers :)
