Obtaining a BRB?

Ok, so I have decided that the next snake I would like to get is a BRB. I need to do some good reading up on them so if anyone has a good care sheet or website I can browse through that would be great! :D I am also posting this to as if anyone knows anybody I could purchase one from when I have everything ready for my new little one? thanks :smug:

yes i found a website rainbows r us or something like that, but they dont have a whole lot right now i would like to get one under a year old hopefully *fingers crossed* and hopefully not outrageously expensive.

Deadly D, right now most rainbow breeders are between litter years. Babies typically arrive in the August to October timeframe (my pairs are hard at work pursuing that goal -- or at least they better be! ;-) ). You can find leftovers from last year, but all the really nice babies have long since found homes.

I wont be getting one right away, i would like to wait for the next clutch to lay that way i have everything perfect for my new little one. right now i dont know anything about them at all. All i know is i love the colors and the marking are beautiful i love boas i currently have a ball python and a colombian boa. i have loved the markings BRB's for a long time so im starting fresh need to learn everything and get it all set up before i order my little guy/girl :D anything would help great!

i haven't seen a whole lot of different patterns on them but the ones i like the most are the dark orange ones and the very light yellow. i assume one is more expensive than the other.

What looks like light yellow is more often than not a light orange normal or a full hypo. The former are priced equal to or slightly lower than normal, and the latter are a morph (carrying the genetics for reduced black pigment) and therefore fairly expensive compared to a normal Brazilian. They're all very attractive though!

so what does a normal look like? i emailed someone and they said it would cost around 200 for a normal including shipping, not sure if thats good or not...

The best place to start is by examining enclosure requirements, including adult space needed, temperature, and humidity, and making sure you can afford the equipment to properly maintain these. Note that this species likes it on the cool side (82F-72F), with high humidity (90%+ for babies), and does not like bright light. These factors will steer your choice of enclosure.

ok i can do that, no problem, i will have a custom enclosure built by the time i purchase one. how big do they get?

ok cool, there is still a lot i need to learn first which is fine because the next clutch wont be here until October right? i will have everything set up by then and have the money set aside to get the one i want :D

Any time between August and October -- it varies. But sounds great!
