Hi Guys, I've been thinking about getting some young Sand Boa's and in future possibly breeding them.
during the research I seen loads of Sand Boa's and their nose and face look realy rough looking I gather this is from being in very course sand and the skin being scufted over time. Can any if you advise about a better substrate to use that won't be as harsh on their skin.

I personally use shredded aspen for all my Kenyans. Easy to spot clean and holds their burrows really well.and I would think I'd their noses were really rough looking, it may be due to rubbing along edges in their enclosure and not due to the sand.

I personally use aspen as well. Sani-chips and beta chips also should work. :)

thanks for the feedback realy useful, at the moment all vivs and racks are full but the future expansion will incorporate the Sand Boas accomodation.
I want to keep all sizes of boa's not just the big ones.

Be careful, sand boas are addicting. Like potato chips, you just can't have only one :D

Trust me, the past two reptile expos I went to, I came home with a new sand boa each time, bringing my total to 22 sand boas :D
