So as the title says I have built a new enclosure for my bosc which is 6x3x3 and have managed to smash onw of the glass doors when putting them in. Does anyone from the UK know where the best places are to buy a new one? Or if cheaper would plexi glass work without warping under the heat?

I managed to smash it cause when I asked everyone in my house to help put it in ( after building the full enclosure my self) they all refused. I have no words for how gutted I am lol it was all set to go once I had done this and then put the soild/sand in :(

Also I know the size of the enclosure isnt the biggest but it shall do till I move out of this hell hole lol!

I would look for a local glass dealer on the net or a Windows and conservatory place and ask them if they now anyone who will make it the size you need.
As for plexi as long as it's thick enough can't see a problem but think its more expansive.

best bet is to try your local glass manufacturers or cutters, ask any aquarium building places around you has any off cuts, ebay, a local glazing company (windows related). thats all i can think of m8

they might do plexi glass but i cant see them doing normal glass if im honest, although the plexi will have to be around an inch thick for it to be strong enough against the heat to stay stiff. you could always look into getting a cheap fish tank (damaged 1) and break the sealant and use a pain of glass from that and u may end up with spares to :D

That's a good idea.

lol no brother, plexi at 1/8th or even the smallest 1/10th will be fine, just dont set a 60 watt flood ontop of it, i use plexi over glass, its just as fine, holds heat just the same, and is easier to work with

Thanks guys! Not had time to have a proper look around due to working late tonight but hopefully within the next couple of days. I will be using 2-3 50W spot bulbs for a basking temp of 130-150F, ambients 75 and 90ish hopefully. So if plexi would work then id go for that, minimizing the risk of me smashing it again haha!

Make sure the plexiglass is reinforced somehow. Or really heavy. (Frame the plexiglass with wood or metal to keep it from being bent.)

If it just lays flat or if it is latched together the monitor will find a way to wriggle through it.

Thanks! I got some 4mm plexi at the weekend and its doing fine :D

If only I had seen this post before last night lol. I left the door open about 2mm to vemt some humidity out and he managed to slide it open enough to get out! He was found shorty after though :D

Yeah I have a picture with Steve in between the plexiglass trying to escape. It looked like he was trying to imitate spiderman.

Wow he was tiny lol

Yeah I got one of these where the right side part twists to lock. And I replaced my doors with heavy wooden cabinet doors lol. Just install a few locks on the side and since yours slides and doesn't swing the plexiglass should work fine.

Oh you need a bore bit to drill into plexiglass and then bolts to put in. Otherwise it can shatter.
