Howdy all. I'm hoping to pick people's brains on here and hopefully locate a good breeder of yellow Annies in the Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona area. I live in El Paso so I have decent access to all three states. I really want to find someone with hatchlings so I can pick up a male now and a female later on so I have a breeding pair from different clutches.

If I'm not mistaken Yellow's are illegal to transport state to state, I'd look for a male green anaconda instead.

I just don't know how keen I am on the potential size of the green Annies though. I like the fact that adult yellows are much more manageable.

Male green anaconda's stay relatively small, just heavy bodied. Females on the other hand are massive.

It's not worth it imo to breed yellows since you can't sell them legally across state lines. You'll be stuck with a massive amount of babies that you won't be able to sell.

The guy wants yellows. Let him be. Green annies are the largest snake, male or females get really robust when kept properly. Males should obtain a large size if kept properly.

As stated though, shouldn't breed giants anymore since you can't sell them cross state lines.

You know, I didn't even think about that part regarding breeding the yellows. I can't imagine there's a high enough demand for them in-state to support that. Maybe I will look at the greens although the potential size is somewhat offputting - thanks so much for the advice.

A green male will get as big, if not bigger than a nice yellow female. Get whatever you like best.

I would look into caging for a female that's around 8x3x3 with a water source that has a pump. They piss a lot in their water and it MUST be cleaned daily or it can cause skin problems so it's best to have a system where it's managed on it's own instead of possibly pissing off your 16 foot female while trying to get her out of the water.

If you don't want to supply a large water source not everyone does but it's recommended because they're so heavy that it takes a lot of pressure off of them.

Males get 8-12' on average, females can get much larger but not usually bigger than around 16'

I've heard quite a lot of negative things about the yellow anacondas.Admitting that I am still learning and that getting two annies as my first, perhaps wasn't the best choice I suppose. But I don't regret getting them one minute. We always take their personalities in consideration as with any other animal or species you invite into your home.Treat them with the utmost respect for what they are.And we will adapt to whatever they need and keep on education ourselves on keeping them happy. They are just beautiful!

Here's a couple of pics of my new female Yellow Annie. I have only had her for about 10 days but she has been a real treasure so far. The owner I got her from had no idea as to her age but when I took her down to get sexed they put her at 6-9 months...she's pretty small still. I'm so super happy that she seems very mellow and we have had no issues with aggression or nippiness as of yet. However, I have been handling her quite a bit.
