That saying is too true. However, this sav is not being housed or cared for properly, so it may be a good thing that this sav is "just for Christmas." :) this is of course assuming that the sav doesn't move into a situation worse than this one.

Hopefully he is giving him to someone who will take better care of it than he is. I feel so bad for that monitor :( I dont know ow someone KNOWS they are taking horrible care of their animal and not do a thing about it. It would be different if he was rehoming him because he realized he couldn't care for it and he was NOT trying to get another monitor.

Please be sure to do lots of research and ensure you have proper enclosures set up for them and then everyone will be happy, at the end of the day we all just want healthy animals that are well cared for in proper enclosures :)

But then the OP goes on to state that they're going to be getting all of these other reptiles. Obviously just trolling.

"ohai thar, i gawt a sav, wun2 trade4lacie?" bud, 1+1 is not adding up to 2 here....the enclosure i dunt know enuff about to really make a personal judgement on if its good or bad. equation is simple. organic soil/ orga. soil/sand mix, mid 80 ambients, 130+ hotspots and 60% + humidity. tbh its not terribly hard to keep any animal once the proper research on how to house them is PUBLICLY AVAILABLE through a google search. u just need apply it and your lizard will live, i promise. as for wanting to rehome a sav and get a lacie? thats how children think, that when they get bored of something, getting something "better" will keep them interested. doesnt work like that tho friend. animals arent play toys, they are alive. you love the hobby and the animals or you dont. the animal woth 6k is just as valuable to anyone here as the 30$ sav. not preaching or anything.

Bragging about supposedly owned Water Monitors is also quite childish..

Also, I have to say this much: This sav is in better shape than many out there. It at least has the soil it needs to burrow, and does not look obese, hinting that it has proper heat. Could it be in a much better cage? Hell yes! But at least it's not on paper or sand with a 90 degree basking spot. I'm not sure why everyone is pissed over it being in a tub. A metal horse trough and a tub are almost identical in function, but only one is acceptable? This looks to me like the proportional equivalent of a 4' Sav in an 8'x4'x4'. I still think that is very small for a Sav, but it is the accepted minimum.
The bottom line here is that the Sav is having its needs supplied, and at least is not slowly dying. It does need a cage upgrade, but it really could be much worse. Now, as far as the owner, I'm with the rest of you. Still waiting for those pics of your 8' water monitor...
