So i was debating if i wanted to go to one today or not. Well needless to say i ended up going. I didnt find any thermosats nor RHP but found a few snakes i almost picked up.
I found a costal carpet about 1.5 years old. I was holding it and it was very jerky at first. I thought i was going to get nipped. the guy said $100 at first then dropped the price down to $75. I backed away from the table before i made a dumb choice.
Next table they had what i have never saw before. It was a super cin black pastel. (8 ball as some called it) ball python. it was very very tempting but not for $1100.
Next was two tanks about 12 in each tank. all born on haloween and he said they all shed about 5 times already. I was scratching my head on this one. all argintine boas. a few had caught my eye but money wasnt comming out of my pocket. he was asking $200 for each.
i dont think i will be going to another show till i have more tanks and money.

Good call on passing up those boas. There is no way they've shed five times since Halloween.

I would love to go to a reptile show (not many in the UK), but i would have to lock my wallet in a secure box with a time delay lock on it before going!!! ;)

the one i went to was all ball pythons. very few boas, maybe 4 monitors and a hand full of toads. the supliers had bulbs, vines, glass tanks, no pvc tanks, it wasnt that good i would say. i thought it would be bigger than it was. kinda dissapointed.

Except the breeder is a complete liar.....
Why give your money to shady people? How do you know they weren't crosses?

i dont know what argintene hatches look like but they were very light. yeah a few had the dark stripe on the head/neck area but that was maybe 40% of them....

The show I attended Saturday had one of the best variety of exotics I've seen in a while. Was getting tired of seeing almost exclusively ball pythons for snakes and lizards limited to leos and cresties. This time quite a few of the more interesting ball morphs; a number of monitors; some anacondas; a decent selection of kings & milks/rat snakes; frilled lizards; uros; pdfs; tortoises/turtles; and a goodly variety of arachnids (mainly Ts). Was tempted by a young cw rough green snake, but I have yet to meet anyone who has had long term success with them. Also saw some hedgehogs and prairie dogs.

If you decide to get a Argentine get a hold of strutter769 on here and ask him who you can trust. He will know.

I never see decent ones at the shows I go to.
The one show I went to had none. And they only had hooks for small to medium sized animals. The one breeder who was selling burms and retics brought those. I'm surprised he didn't have any bigger hooks considering the animals he was selling.
Nor did I see any enclosures or other husbandry accessories for any of my animals. Only one table had frozen feeders and they didn't have a good selection.
I know I had the hardest time not walking about with quite a few animals. I had brought plenty of money for a nice order of feeders for my girls and no extra to spend. Since I didn't get as many feeders as I anticipated, I had a bit left over, but I knew at the time it wouldn't be right for me to take in another animal since I have other issues related to my own that need to be taken care of first (like new homes).
I saw a beautiful snow corn I wanted to get my son, a purple retic that I would have loved to have come home with but he was too expensive (the breeder will have some next year!), and an outstanding marble borneo I REALLY wanted to bring home! Arrrgghhh!!!
I was good, though...and didn't come home with nothing more than feeders...and a mantis (ok...I HAD to get something!). Next time I go to a show, I'm taking spending money!
