Awesome looking animals.

I'm not a monitor person, so no comment on the husbandry...

Very serious about the dead part.. no updates not adult pictures or footage.

I agree, I would not at all be surprised. If I had something like that I'd be anxious to show it off every minute of every day. Such a shame that they went to BHB.

What do you know, they're still alive.. Nice force handling there. "I have no idea what we're going to do when they're six feet long, we've been trying to tame them out...It's really a shame that I can't take them out and play with them like I did when they were babies." That's ever so encouraging.. Also that he doesn't show the cage and since the animal doesn't have a speck of dirt on it tells me that it's still not being housed correctly.

Those niles should be twice the size they are by now.

I'm curious to wonder who must be giving them monitor care advice. This guy MUST know someone. It's also odd that HE got them and not another monitor keeper. Like Robyn.

I wonder where they're getting their care advice too.. You'd think they would have the common sense to ask some actual monitor breeders, but it sounds like they just googled it and used the first care sheet they found.
As far as it being odd that he got them, not really.. It's not hard to get a hold of fresh morphs. Just get in touch with an exporter in Africa and tell them you'll pay triple for an unusual animal..

He's got his contacts over there already due to the ball pythons but I'm surprised they weren't offered to a monitor person first. Seeing as if I was an exporter, I wouldn't contact a ball guy for a monitor thing since he hadn't ever. Ah well, you never know what happened.

Even so, I wouldn't think they would think about who normally buys what, They'd probably just ask their biggest customer first.

Drive the point even harder. LOL

The crazy thing is that "night niles" came in back in the 90's. We got them in and sold them for $125 each. I have a feeling it is a locality morph.

Like Black Dragon water monitors and some of the high-black Beaded Lizards?

It's not likely for the same mutation to occur simultaneously in different animals. Either it happened once, the first individual bred, and its het babies bred, producing these. Or, it's a locality.

The sad thing is, the way they are being kept and the rate at which they are growing (or not growing), This project will never go anywhere. These animals should really be in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing with varanids or BHB should bring in someone who knows what they are doing with varanids instead of splitting up the trio between people who do not have a clue on varanid husbandry.

With that being said, BHB is great with snakes. I see them at the shows I do and their snake collection is emaculate. They are truely great breeders and care about their animals. There really is no need to bash them.

Well, on face book they said thank you for winning the reptile report thing.
I decided to post on that saying that I liked their show, but wished that they improved their monitor lizard keeping.
They liked it...
Perhaps they'll do something...
:hmm:
