I have two ball pythons that I thought were both boys, they have been in the same tank since I got them when they were babies. I walked in to find them copulating, obviously one is female. Unfortunatley I do not think the female is big enough to birth nor do I have the equipment or funds to deal with the eggs or babies. Someone please help me figure out what to do!!!!! I love my snakes very much and I would never do anything to intentionally hurt them, but, due to my inexperience, I have put my new-found female in danger. Please help her and I.

Separate them into their own tanks and wait and see if she is gravid. If temps and conditions are right even 2 males will go at it, Doesn't mean they are male and female.

This is a good advert as to why two royals shouldnt be housed together UNLESS you are breeding them. Get them separated and hope that it is either two males trying to dominate each other or that the female isnt gravid.

Thanks for the advice, i wasn't sure if it was ok to separate them while they were still attached to each other but as soon as they stopped I did.
Males have bred males, and females with females. Pop or probe them. Take no ones word on these things.

so, say that she dose become egg barring, and lays them with no problem. If I dont have and incubator, would leaving the eggs in the tank with the mom be the best way to incubate them or would that have a negative effect on the mom (aka eating).

You said you don't have funds for babies. Why try to hatch them?

what would i do with the eggs when she lays them.

Seperate them today. Chances are you will not have a gravid female but if you do and feel funny about disposing of the eggs just let her incubate them. Your hatch rate might be lower but thats not a problem for you right?

no, not at all. I would feel so bad to just throw the eggs out like they are nothing. i wasn't planning on hatchlings so a few would be ok. even if by some miracle the whole clutch hatched, i would still try my best to provide care and food until i could get them sold or given out to better homes.

How big is your female? How much does she weigh?

no sure on her weight, i dont have a digital scale because i was not planning on breeding. but she is about 3' 3'' to 3' 6''.

and maybe 1 and1/2'' wide (now). she is normally a little thicker.

A digital scale would be a good thing to have in any case, I personally just like to keep track of my guys' weight incase anyone stops eating. From what I remember (someone correct me if I'm wrong) a ball python should be 1500+ grams before breeding. If she is about that weight she will probably be okay. It's pretty unlikely that she is pregnant.

You are correct about the 1500 grams. Some maybe 1200 but its way better to be close to 1500. but i dont think she is there. Not that it's a bad thing, but why do you say that it is unlikely that she is pregnant. im just curious.
