Hey everyone,
so obviously I'm a fan of boa's and I know a lot of you guys (and girls :)) are too. So here's a thread to show off your favourite boid's or perhaps theres an unusual boa species in your collection that you could share an info sheet on for everyone to read out if interest? Is there any tips that are boa specific or feel free to throw in anything related that you want.

To anyone who loves to talk boa's.. Join an awesome group on facebook dedicated to everything boa. BOADDICTION . Photos, debate's, discussion nights and more. (mods- if this is an issue, please edit my post) :D

My next snake will likely be a snow boa. Would be my 1st boa. No pics until then...

I love Boas. What I find interesting is that Boas can be found in different parts of the worls and even those found in Latin America can be so different from each other.

I got my first boa last August, and there's just no compare to my ball python. Although Bud (bp) is active, Cloud (boa constrictor) will come right up the walls of his tub to see what I'm doing. If I'm spraying down his cage, he'll try to climb up my arm. He's also a pig, and has a much stronger feeding response than Bud.
I'll definitely be getting more species of boas in the future. :)

I love my boas they all have such unique personalities and their looks and color variations. Myfavorite part of boas is their big beautiful triangle shaped heads, shows how muscular they really are also aids in them being wonderful escape artists as well! :)

I got my first boa 2.5 years ago and it was my BRB. Since then I've become intrigued more and more by them. Your right, they have huge personalities for a snake and I often find mine doing something dopey :D.

I think at the moment I'd really like a Jamaican boa, as they're stunning in my eyes.

This <3 No but seriously I just love boas as well. My first snake I got only a year ago is a Guyana rtb, and he is just....argh I feel so lucky to have gotten him as my first little serpent. He is fantastic and everything about him is so interesting to me.

Just had one of those special boa appreciation days. The smell gave it away, and she knocked her water bowl over. Yes, the lovely way boas can hold on until they deliver something of an amazing size is truly remarkable.

Haha I one exactly what you mean.. I usually discover a pile of crap at 6 in the morning before work.. Then it's got to be cleaned before I leave, and my gf gets to laugh while I'm retching and heaving from the smell. Ah tho joys of boa's :D

I'm generally more of a colubrid kind of guy, but the slow, mellow and very predictable behavior of a boa can be very pleasing. Also the normal phase BCIs and BCCs are just gorgeous, IMHO.

I really like the look of dumeril's and as soon as Iove I'll be getting myself a young one... That's a stunning Annie you've got there, how's the temperament? As I've heard yellows can be really feisty. Not that I'm ever planning to have one, abit too much for me I think.

Use to be mellow but as he get old he doesn't care much for handling outside his cage. In his cage i can do anything to him and he just fine. As so has i pull him pass the door he gets super flighty. I can open his cage door when in the snake room and he will stick his head out and look around but never come more than a foot pass the door. He also is most active snake by far. The one thing that i never see him do is soak. He will put is head in the water to get a drink and that's the only time he touches the water.

Thank you. She has once before but the litter was early and none of them lived. If my male gets done with my other female early enough I may put them together again. But in a few years she will produce absolutely amazing babies with an IMG. I mean this is a side shot of her tail

Don't pull the male. The boa breeding process takes a long time. He may have just been stimulating her to develop folicles. She could go into a pre-ov swell at any time. They put off a lot of hormones that keep the process going. Separating after "action" has already taken place is a no-no because it disrupts the cycle imo.

I never ever expected to get a pet boa, I like my small snakes. First one was a childerens python, then I got into corns, I have a king snake and a couple ball pythons. On a FB reptiles group a local(well 2 hours away) breeder posted her new boa litter and I fell in love with one of the smaller girls in the litter. I couldn't stop thinking about her and after she ate 5 meals I hit the highway. I have had Gojira for 3.5 months now, she is an eating, growing machine. She is so sweet, docile and of course beautiful!
It was those dots in her saddles that drew me to her. I had my 6'x2'x2' viv empty(Sav moved up) and couldn't think of what to put in there. So Boa works. I have mice in it for now until Gojira grows a bit more.
Here is Gojira

Thank you, Jay! Those particular Rainbows could quite possibly provide Next Generation Boas our very first litter. I think those would be phenomenal snakes!

Hmmmm - I have some boa pics that I wanted to share, but whenever I try I get a "post denied" message. Do I need to have a minimum number of posts to have pictures? Or can you not use the IMG codes from Photobucket here?

Thanks

IMG codes work fine, think you just need a couple more posts ;)

I think so your at 4..maybe you need more then it'll click over and allow you to post pics from a photo bucket account. I think they do this to make sure you don't put up...random nude pictures or advertisements. Gotta make sure you r cool lol
