I am drawing up plans to build a custom enclosure for tarzan. Do you guys think its better to use a ceramic heat emitter or a radiant heat panel.
Also what thickness of plexi glass do your reccoment for the doors?

I use radiant heat panels. If it's strong enough, it's the only heat source you need. And it doesn't take away from humidity at all...

I also use radiant heat panels. as for the plexi that depends on how large of a "window" you will be making in your door. I used normal 1/8" in my smaller vivs and 1/4" in the larger window vivs. You can also add bracing to add strength if you want to go with the thiner stuff.

i've never used radiant heat panels,so cannot comment on them
i use non light emmiting ceramic bulbs...
they give good consistant ambient air temps and an accurate consistant basking spot
i have a single 150 watt bulb,heating 4 x 2 x 2ft tanks with no issues
cheers shaun

Personally if i could afford it i would use RHP's for all my snakes but for now i am like shauny and use CHE's with no issues :)

If I decide to use RHB, do they get hot enough to burn my snake. And should I cover it with a guard so my snake cant get to it?
