Is there much of a difference between the Mexican and Western? A guy who lives about 30 miles from be is selling CBB mex hogs. I'm thinking about getting one. Any info would be appreciated.

They are a different species from Westerns. Mexicans are Heterodon kennerlyi and Westerns are Heterodon nasicus.

There are big difference between the two species. Scale counts are different, pattern is different, behavior and temperment are different.

Mexicans are much more flighty and they frequently hood up and hiss a lot. They almost never stop acting this way even way into adulthood. They also breed later in the year than Westerns.

In my opinion, they are a really fun, active species to work with. I have a few and I love them.
