Ok one made it out of the egg and I managed a couple decent egg tooth shots so I will share those for now.
First one out of the egg, little pisser too!!

As he was striking and backing up the one in the egg behind him poked his head up
"I got your back bro!"

I really like this shot, you can see the egg tooth but what I really like is the scales of the chin, they look pretty awesome!

This is a more typical egg tooth shot

And the last one for now until I have more babies out of the egg

I never cut eggs this much before, usually only a small slice to make sure they can get out and make sure they are alive. This time I did a pretty huge slice and noticed that they all were laying upside down...

The sire is a color changer, some BHPs go through an adult onset color change and no one is really sure why. Both of the sire and dam of my breeders also went through a color change as well.

The Dam is still a regular colored BHP at this point.

I need to get better pictures of this pair outdoors soon. Talked to a buddy of mine about getting out to his place next weekend to give it a try.

Wow how long are they?
Jason_Hood
09-06-12, 06:47 PM
The adults are around 7-8ft right now but they can get 10-12 feet if fed heavy but they can have issues with fat content that cause health issues if fed too heavy.

Those are some awesome looking snakes. I've always been interested in them but not sure yet. How are their temperaments usually?

Blackheads are a weird snake. I have an adult female that is as crazy as the one baby in my video. If I pick her up she is fine. Most of them are very calm placid animals and I have never had one bite me but I know some people that have got hit with feed response bites. I do have some that strike and hiss and puff like little psychos but even their strikes are with closed mouths. If you grab them in one of these defensive displays and pick them up they give up. In Australia they are recommended as beginner snakes...
Sorry I have not posted new pics, I have a ton but it is too many to deal with. I have to process them all and go through them. I had an outdoor photo session with my buddy and we each got in around 400 pictures.
