Took the dumerils outside today for some pics. I'm still astounded as to how light their color and pattern appears in the sunlight as opposed to the lighting inside. And the iridescence shimmers through these girls!
I've only had them for less than a year. I acquired them through another person who had rescued them from an unhealthy environment (both in the same cage with no heat, poop and sheds everywhere, and nasty water). He got them but knew he couldn't keep them so I had them shipped to me. They were a little on the lean side when I first got them and very timid creatures. Now they've gotten some good size on them and show a bit more personality. They're still a bit on the shy side, but they're not near as shy as what they were. For a while I thought them no more than pet rocks :( I honestly don't know how old they are, but believe them to be somewhere around 4 years old or so. Both are great eaters. One has only refused to eat once and I think it was because she was due to shed soon (she shed the next day). Overall, they've been great to keep. They eat well, stay calm and are well behaved. They're my first dumerils as well.
They're almost identical in pattern and color and very hard to distinguish between them just by glancing. lol The little white spot on their throats is the easiest way for me to tell them apart. Sometimes it drives me batty that I've had them this long and still cannot tell the difference at a glance.
This one still doesn't have a name yet, sadly. Nothing seems to fit her. She's only slightly bigger of the two and you can only tell the difference when they're out side by side. When I first put her down, she didn't move for a while. Then curiosity finally got the better of her and she just ambled along slowly, tasting everything lol
