Do they have to be South American Boas or will Old World Boas work as well for this thread?

Ask and you shall receive. This is Big Mama. Rmf's 7' rescue, Central American Boa that Ive been housing for her. By the time she reaches her full size, I wouldn't be surprise if she topped 10' or more which is quite large for a Central American.

I don't think that's a CA. That boa looks very Colombian!

Im not going to argue as Im not an expert on Boa locales. I'm just going off of info Ive heard from others and the fact that this snake is darker with black speckling like a CA. If Im wrong, Im wrong.

I'm trying to say "No, you're wrong!". I just think rmf may be getting fed misinformation from somewhere up there, and being a Colombian would explain why she's such a big Central American. I'm only trying to help :) I'm not an expert and I had to learn all this stuff too.

Im just curious. If Mama is a Colombian, why does she differ in her appearance from the Colombian that Rmf has genetics on? Again, Im no locale expert. I just want to get at the truth.

You mean the one that is "DH for Pink Salmon and het for Hypo"?

Yeah that one. Rmf has genetic paperwork on her.
Wildside

Yeah that one. Rmf has genetic paperwork on her.
See that's why I think Rmf is being mislead. Hypo is a homozygous trait therefore rendering it impossible to be "het" for hypo. Then there is the issue of Salmon.
"All Salmons are hypos, but not all hypos are salmons." Salmon is a line bred trait started by Rich Ihle. If Rmf's paperwork were authentic it wouldn't be so wrong. Anyone who knows how to use word can produce paperwork.

08-27-12, 05:04 PM
Im sorry you feel that way. First off this paperwork has nothing to do with Mama. The info she got on her was totally separate from what she has on Cinammon but I am not going any further with this. She can speak for herself on all this when she gets online. Its not that important to me anyway. All I know is that both these Boas are beautiful and especially Mama, for being a rescue, has vastly improved since she first got her.
Exwizard, you were swindled...

It's not that I "feel" any particular way. It boils down to basic genetics. Seeing as how Hypo is a homozygous trait then there is no way for it to be a heterozygous trait.

Youre funny. Neither one of these snakes are mine and Mama was a rescue, meaning she didnt cost Rmf any up front money. The only money she cost was the vet visits to treat her RI.

My sunglow is from Rich. She was imported by Tales n Scales in Toronto. She has the interesting head shape so many of his snakes have. I tried to get him to give me info on the parents but not response :(

Wow everyone so crabby on here it was a simple pic and as for mama I can only go off what her previous crappy owners told me when they bought her when she was small then they left her in a rubbermaid tote with a few holes no heat pad or lights or water there was an inch of poop and a few sheds caked in it they threw her a bunny once a month and neglected her because of her size they stopped messing with her because they claimed she was hissing which she was not she had an RI that was so bad she was blowing bubbles out of her nose and mouth so as I stated can only go off what I was told but believe me she is in much better hands and on a full road to recovery so if anyone has something nice to say as to opinions on her locale the please let me know if thats not what she is then I would like to know thanks all!

Sorry its little late for me to edit. But in a nutshell she is much more healthy and happy then where she came from. At this point I really do not care where she is from, for all I know the people could have lied to me or been lied to as to where mama is from. Either way she is beautiful and I am happy to have her! :)
