Hey guys/girls!!
I'm obv new to this forum and can't wait to find out more information about snakes, other reptiles....and pretty much everything about these amazing creatures. I'm a HUGE animal lover! At the moment, I have 3 cats that I rescued all on different occasions from near death....I have two pitbull/german shepard mix dogs (brother and sister), their mom was like a daughter to me (full blooded pit) but sadly someone shot her and took my world away bc they were cruel people. I also have a turtle and a rat snake that was caught and given to me a while back. So needless to say...I have a zoo at my house. :bouncy: At the moment I'm very interested into learning more about reptiles, esp snakes. :)
So my questions for you guys:
1. I wanted to get a ball python....do you recommend that i start off with one? and is there any advice you can give me?
2. What kind of pythons are the best?
3. What are the temperament of pythons?
Other then that...i dont know what to ask...so any information would be awesome!! :)
Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the forum!!.
Ball pythons are a good first python as they are extremely docile and often called lap snakes because they will just sit around with you. They have higher humidity requirements than you rat snake but are generally easy to care for.

Thank you very much for such a fast response! I would love love love a python. Would you happen to know any great sites for purchasing one?
Welcome! It's lovely to know that you have such a caring heart to bring in those animals and reptiles and wish to further educate yourself :)
My first snake was a Ball Python and it was easy and a rewarding decision. To answer your questions:
1. I wanted to get a ball python....do you recommend that i start off with one? and is there any advice you can give me? Absolutely, just make sure you are prepared with the supplies that you will need and that the humidity is a bit higher. Spraying everyday should take care of that no problem.
2. What kind of pythons are the best? I can't really tell you as I've only ever had BPs but Ball Pythons are amazing to have as they like to hang out with you.
3. What are the temperament of pythons? Ball Pythons can still have a different personality where they can be flighty and a bit scared, but with handling that should calm them down and build trust. As with others they are as calm as can be and really enjoy being handled. I have 6 of them and the majority of them have all been curious and friendly (no biting) and they have all been bought as babies from a breeder. One that I did get from a breeder as well was a year old and was scared and nippy, but over time she has calmed down and is an amazing companion. The only issue with Ball Pythons is that they can sometimes go off of feed for some time, and feedings can become irregular. But if you ever come into any issues we are all here to help and answer any questions :)

Thanks so much!! And yes, I care very much for animals...this is gonna sound weird but i've always had a very fond sense of them...like if there trying to tell me something. If they dont feel good, or if they need something...whatever the case has always been...its like they communicate with me in the strangest ways. I'm 22 years old and one day i hope that i can open up a place for animals where they actually have a place to call home everyday until someone comes in and wants to adopt them. I would do anything for animals...I even moved out of my house a while back just so i could keep that mother pitbull in my life. :) Animals are amazing AMAZING creatures with unconditional love!

You are very welcome. I can always sense a person that is connected to animals, as I am also one of them. I can completely relate to feeling their energy and kind of sensing what they want and how they feel. It's a great experience and a rare connection to find :) Animals are really amazing creatures and deserve to be respected and understand that it is a privilege to have one in someones life! Again, welcome and it's great to have you here! :D
And don't forget to post pictures....we all LOVE pictures ;)
