My long tail boa has a blue sheen to his entire body in most light but I can't seem to get a good picture of it I don't see it as a problem at all but dose the sheen mean anything or what is it called and so on?

Sounds like he is going into shed. Is this a new snake to you? Usually they will go a opaque almost bluish colour, especially noticeable in the eyes. Nothing to worry about, just pay close attention to your humidity levels.

They are right unless you're just referring to that lovely iridescence :)

Last dialogue at vet, with experienced reptile vet - was told iridescence, (not applicable to shed, which according to you has happened recently) otherwise is positively correlated to good health -

The irridescence on that snake is amazing.

I was wondering if I can post pics of Taco to illustrate his similarity.

The breeder in question said he wasnt an Argentine and his exwife who also breeds snakes called him Peruvian.

Rmf could tell you exactly but I don't think he's older than 2 or 3.

Not a BCL then. BCL grow very slow. He looks more central american to me. You guys gotta find different breeders to talk to.

You tell me how Taco compares with the OPs Boa because to me, they look a lot alike, thus my reason for posting these pics on his thread.

I said this before, when it comes to Boa locales, I am no expert. I was just curious. That's all.

See how Bryan's is very very very dark like someone colored on it with a marker, then taco is just like a chocolatey dark color? Look mostly at the faces for comparison. That's clue #1 that Taco isn't a BCL.

Clue #2 is the size of Taco. Like I said BCL are very slow growing species. I think it takes something like 6 years to get them to breeding size.

Clue #3 is a big difference in pattern and background color. Bryan's BCL has thinner straight saddles with clear medallions on the side. Taco has fat wide saddles with a little bit of a widows peak and funky pattern sides.

There is no doubt Taco is a cool looking boa but he is not a BCL. As far as iridescence goes it's kinda hard to pinpoint a color. Some look more blue, some look more rainbow but they are all beautiful :)

There's a reason why I don't do this for a living ;). Pinpointing Boa locales is such a complex art, or at least it seems that way to me. Tonight, I will Taco's pics on his thread and talk about him more there. Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Bryan, you have a beautiful Boa and that iridescence is amazing.
