We purchased these two boas a couple days ago, and although we don't know too much about raising boas, I'm determined to learn more about my new babies. I've been trying to do more research on what the names of these boas mean, but I'm not having any luck - because I can't find anywhere what a "Pastel Norm" is!!

My male is supposedly a "Hypo Motley" and my female is supposedly a "Pastel Norm" I've kind of figured out what a Hypo Motley is, although he looks nothing like the pictures displayed... :/

I'll provide pictures soon, and I hope someone can help me, because there's a possibility that my female is pregnant - although she may just be ovulating, they are both a little young still, so it's hard to tell, but she looks a little fat, and the previous owners told me that they've had her looked at and confirmed pregnancy, but I had someone look at her as well, and said she probably isn't.

Either way, I'm soooo excited to have them in our family!!

Thank you for any feedback!!

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you got your hands on some nice ones. You should post pics in the boas section and we can help you further.

A pastel norm is a pastel normal. It's a color morph. I would lo e to see pics. How big is the female?

hypo motleys vary greatly the hypo gene messes with the motley gene and the pattern falls apart quite a bit some hypo motleys are nicer then others. some dont mucg resemble a motley at all. pastels arent a morph or type at all its a normal boa that has been selectively bred from chosen colorful boas :) cant wait to see pictures!

I wonder why it messes with the motleys so much and not the aztecs?

it does the aztecs too my buddy has an hytec that looks barely aztec more just like a hypo lols it does it to arabs and kwbs too. i think it just takes breeding to a strongly patterned line to get nice looking ones. i have no idea the details of why Im not that good lol

That's an interesting thought. All the hytecs I've seen looked very aztec so maybe it's just because most aztecs are coming from a pretty strongly patterned line?
