I absolutely love working with these amazing snakes.

For those that aren't as familiar with Boomslang here's a quick overview:
Boomslang (Dispholidus typus) are considered as one of the world’s most venomous snakes although they are mostly very reluctant to bite. They have very strong hemotoxic venom that will cause extreme internal bleeding if left untreated. After envenomation, it may take 24-48 hours before any symptoms may appear.

Boomslang are sexually dimorphic (most of the times-current research under way) with males being brightly coloured (green, black and yellow etc.) and females pale brown, black or olive in colour.

They differ in colour from locality to locality so I'll be updating the thread so you guys can see them all.

Here some pics of a Limpopo female:

And one of a stunning Eastern cape male:

I hope you enjoyed them.

I really love these. To me, they are in the "ultimate arboreal" category right along side the two species of Green Mamba.

she DIDN'T look all that dangerous/threatening,until you see the 2nd last picture, and that look in her eye

she is a beautiful looking snake

i look forward to thread updates

i DON'T think i'd have the confidence in myself,to NOT lapse in protocol and end up bitten

i have great a respect for DWA keepers, especially the ones who do research while keeping them

they are fascinating creatures

cheers shaun

Here's a pic of an old boy we took some years back...

*Note that the colour of this male has changed from green to a "bluish" because of old age.

Do all booms get that big? I thought they tended to be rather small snakes.

(Sorry for the bump, but im sure nobody mines looking at a boomslang)

They do look smaller in photos hey ?

Skumbo, most boomslang average out at around 1.5m but some localities will reach up to 2m with ease.
