So one of my boas seems to do this. She is a sunglow and very difficult to judge when in the blues because her eyes do not change colour. She sheds about the same time as my male who just shed. Last couple times she shed I have noticed symptoms of rti. She open mouth breaths and has juicy nostils. So of course I up the temp an drop the humidity and then she sheds and is back to normal. Anyone else ever heard of this? No bubbles or lethargy just a wet nose and a bit of open mouth breathing. No bubbles in the mouth.
Thoughts??

I never heard of this. Has she done it since?

My old male ball python starts sneezing before he goes into shed. It's quite startling, really. I thought he was sick, then i thought it was the substrate (tried everything then finally settled on paper towels) and he still did it...finally figured out it corrilated to his sheds. About a week before he goes into blue, he starts sneezing. A LOT. I have not seen any snot, but boy that snake can SNEEZE. lol
He's 100% healthy, and we've had him about a year and a half. He just does it!
But, to be safe, it can't hurt to check in with a vet and have a culture done, since there is snot flowing.

First shed she had with us she had the snotty nose. I listened for gurgles and pryed her mouth open to look for bubbles or signs of rti. Nothing. I adjusted her temp and humidity as if she had rti. A week or so later she shed and was fine. Next shed. Same deal. And so on every shed. No bubbles just a running nostril. Always her right one. Always back to normal the day of shed. I was worried before but she is fine in all other respects. Next shed I will get a pic.
