This is a (very) mature Candoia bibroni australis - age unknown. These are simply the sweetest arboreals you'll ever see, if you're fortunate enough to actually see one because they are exceptionally rare. Gracie is 4 feet long and can't eat anything larger than adult mice or quite small birds. I'll try to get some outside shots of her soon to show the amazing glow she has, but for now this will have to do. She's wearing her chocolate-coloured leisure suit today, but that can change radically in an hour. Enjoy :)

Very nice! I've been toying with the idea of getting into candoia. They seem like they are great snakes.

The difference between the ground and arboreal Candoia is like night and day multiplied by 100, so it's something you really want to be sure of first

Very cool. I like the shape of it's head.

She's one of my favourites in your collection I especially love it when she changes her 'outfits'

Wow! What a neat looking creature! I know nothing about them...they change colors? How often and why?

They seem like really neat animals with good temperaments. Sucks that they're so hard to breed in captivity.

I'm really fascinated with the color change. Even my rainbow fascinates me with hers and I'm always taking day and night pics so I can show off her color change. Do you know the scientific reason for the color change in your girl?

It won't be long. She's recently shed (which is a rare occurrence) and she's just coming off a post-shed meal, so it's coming up :)

How long have you had her?

How long have you had her?

Only 3 years. There was a one-time import of them and I got lucky enough to stumble across her shortly thereafter. I have a friend in town who somehow managed to snag 1.2.0 of them, and there is one more outside town, but other than that we've only been able to find two others in Canada, one of which has since died due to improper husbandry.

Gracie is by far the biggest I've seen, and being so mature she hasn't really grown at all in the 3 years I've had her. That's certainly not due to lack of feeding, I can tell ya that much, lol. This one is really quite a food hog and she eats like there's no tomorrow, which I'm happy to accommodate. As far as feeding, cleaning and metabolism go, she's more like a Corn Snake than a boa :)

That's great. I've heard from other people that these guys don't do well in captivity but this seems to be proof of the opposite. :D

All the actual australis that I know are absolutely thriving. It's getting them to breed and rearing the young that is the really difficult part.

That's probably it, then. I don't know of anybody (other than you, now), who's had an adult specimen.

The weather was not cooperating, so it's indoor shots until we see the sun again. The first shot is poor, but it gives you an idea of her blue iridescence...
