So I had someone email me with a heck of a deal on an albino boa.... but it has a recessed eye on one side he said he had gotten from a breeder that was moving out of state on a trade with some frogs. He said the breeder told him it wasn't a genetic defect but caused from a piece of shaving.... ( I know sounds sketchy) I proceeded to ask the guy some questions...

How old? 5months
How long? Almost 2 feet
was the injury healed? Yes
Did he have trouble shedding with the eye problem? No
What its eating? 3 hoppers weekly

Hand tame- friendly- and eating

Asking 30.00 as he only wanted the frogs and doesn't like snakes. He was asking 50 but knocked the price down as I have to drive a little ways to get it.

Now I did some research and found that eye defects are pretty common in albino boas and they say they make good pets but bad for breeding.

Def need a little input on this... the pics look healthy but the eye looks to be toward in the eye socket leaving the back part showing some pink but doesn't look as it was ever infected I asked if it was healed he said there was no injury to heal when he got it...

Well since you don't plan on breeding I don't see a problem. Kicking price. Can you show us a pic?

I can tomorrow :(
My phone died I'm on my kindle right now.
He is really pretty

Now for his age is that a good size for him?
And will I have any problems since he is blind on one side when getting him out of his cage should I try to make sure he "sees" me first before doing anything that might startle him?

Why not go for it.

I have a snake with a bad eye, and he's been great.

Waaaaay back when I was just a young whippersnapper I took on a Burmese with only 1 eye and it wasn't a problem. If anything, I think it made her more mellow than most other Burms because she had to take things in stride. It certainly didn't affect her hunting ability - she was straight as an arrow in that department.

The eye image is hard to judge because of it's poor quality, but that's quite likely on purpose. For the price it may be worth the trip to take a look at it, but I wouldn't commit until seeing it in person. If the eye looks like it's infected or something when you get there, just tell him No Thanks, You've Misrepresented The Snake Because It's Clearly Not Healed and there's nothing he can do except get angry with himself for lying, but then again, the majority of breeders don't really have issues with that, lol.

If it's in good shape and there are clearly no current issues with the snake's eye, you've got a good deal and taken on something that clearly needed a better home than it had.

As for the general look of the snake, it looks like it could use a couple of good-sized meals and I'd be happy to see it off of those shavings. I personally think shaving and snakes are a really bad idea, but hey, whaddo I know
