I've noticed this from his very first shed, but never remember to ask....
First, his belly scales are this really nice golden yellow color. (He is a High Orange from Dave Colling.)
Secondly, his shed skins are bright YELLOW! Please see below for comparison. Please note: the first, or "Normal" shed is from a BCC.
Thanks for reading!

Interesting. I've seen a yellow belly before, but never a yellow shed...except when they've peed in it.

Definitely not pee... It's been every shed. What's with the yellow belly?

i've only ever seen clearish sheds, with maybe a tint to the dark spots on it, that match the pattern of the snake. However my sand boas tend to have an almost orange hue to their sheds....but they seem to smell when they look dingy like that too. Probably slobbering all over them LOL
dunno, it's very yellow. Weird!

That's very interesting- I've never seen anything like that. The pigment-producing cells are not located in the top layer of skin, but deep in the dermis, where they are not shed off like the outer skin, so it is really odd to see such a pigmented shed. I'm going to have to look around and see if I can find any explanation. Let me know if you find anything...I'm really curious now! :)

Roy is just trying to be cool and using dye on the skin!

While I don't think that would be the case here, there are reports of importers doing that to sell a snake for a significantly higher price as a "morph"

Thanks for having my back, Kyle. Lol No dyes, I promise. I tried to post the question on KS too, but I can never figure out how to use Photobucket.
I'll try again. :-)

I know that Zeus' brother was dyed with something because when he shed, he left purple streaks all over the paper towel.

Hmmmm, could there by dye in his substrate? Maybe even a chemical reaction with urine on substrate that caused the color?

I was thinking the same, Dave; however, when her belly turned white again she was still on the same substrate. It was when I changed all the BRB's over to Repti-Bark, I saw the white belly. I'm interested to see his *next* shed.
Stay tuned for details....
