Hello everybody. I'm interested in adopting a rubber boa soon. I was just wondering if anybody on here owns one, has any advice for find one. Or finding a breeder. I've been reading about this snake a lot, its eating habits and temperature needs. It's definitely the snake I'm most interested in. I know the laws regarding this snake are tricky in some states. Any help is appreciated.

Had my path ever crossed a Rubber boa, I'd have snatched it up. While they can be a bit tricky to keep happy, they're really interesting snakes. You can find a few good hits searching online for their husbandry, but I'm not sure anyone here has one :(

Being indigenous species here, we're not supposed to keep them as pets, really. And you all thought Canada didn't have any boas. Poppycock!

Just researched this. I think I'm gonna be spending more time in the fields and meadows now looking for these!

Because you'll be jellie that I have one? :p

To be honest, I'd feel horrible for days if I took an animal out of the wild... I may keep it in my backyard though. That's a reasonable compromise right? :D

Wild Rubber boas are *very* sensitive. A wild-caught specimen would very likely perish and suffer great stress until death. It's *really* best to just observe these right where they are. If you don't disturb it, you'll get to enjoy it while you see it. If you do disturb it, you're going to have a hard time sleeping at night because you'll know how much you messed-up that snake, lol.

Please, everyone...if you are one of the fortunate few who may find one of these in the wild, don't touch it or taunt it. Just respect if for what it is and where you found it.

These animals are too fragile to mess with, OK? Okay! Good talk :D

I don't think I've ever touched a wild snake :) I was raised not to touch wild animals. I was traumatized as a child watching someone touch a lizard and it dropped it's tail.

But as I said before, to me it's worth the money to buy a captive born snake. No wild caught for me...

i haven't even been able to see ANY snakes in the wild around here. I like to talk big and say i'd keep one, but unless it was hurt, i'd just let it go or not try to catch it anyway since i wouldn't want to hurt it.
Supposedly we have rubber boas. I would LOVE to see one. They are soo cute!
With the exception of a few, very few lizards, i have hardly ever seen ANY reptiles in the wild!
