Hi
I went ice fishing and at the fishing store they where selling wax worms and maggots i know waxies are ok but what about maggots, I dont know for sure but i wouldn't see why they couldn't be only reason i ask is because im not sure what maggot breeders feed them. if its anything like what the typical places you find them in the wild then i would think twice about feeding them to my herps

Id start a colony. Let them mature into flys and breed them. The babies would be as healthy as you wanted them to be.

Commercially raised maggots are fine to add variety to your herp's diet. However, they do have a deceptively tough exoskeleton and can be hard for some specimens to digest. Try em'.

What can you feed the maggots? I know about the dogfood, aspen shavings and buttermilk. Any other ideas?
