I have a 5 year old, male 7 foot hog island boa.. he had a respiratory infection for a while and wouldn't eat, I finally got him to eat after 5 months. He is dehydrated though, he always has enough fresh water available to him 24/7, he drinks it too. and i mist his cage daily.
His cage is "teak" wood, the temps are about 98 on the hot side, and 86 on the cool side.
There is barely any open space on the top of the tank (humidity cant escape). I've tried bathing him, he hated it.
I want to know how i can get the humidity up, and get him hydrated.
Thanks!

I am unsure of hoggs but I think 86 is a little high for the cool side. I keep my bci around 80-82°f for a cool side and they use it regularly.
What makes you think he is dehydrated?

I keep it that high for his respiratory infection, when it goes away i will drop it a little. and his eyes are a little bit sunken in and glossy. also, his scales are "shiny"

a little bit, I got baytril, and that didn't comletely clear it up. If it continues for much longer, i will have to get him more.

You news to take that snake back to the vet. If it has had an RI for five months that seems a little long. How long was it womas baytril?

he had an RI for 3 months. i'd say he was on the baytril for about 2 weeks. one injection every 3 days.

So he didn't eat for two months then had a RI for three months? I am having a hard time putting this timeline together.
First if he still has an RI you need to take him back to the vet. If He never got over it he will probably need more treatment. Also I still feel your temps maybe too high. I recommend getting him the proper medication so he can go back down to his proper temps.

when i first brought him home, he didn't eat for two months, (i thought he was getting used to his surroundings, and since he didn't lose any weight at all, i wasn't too worried and thiought it was because it was breeding season) then i noticed the whistle like noise, so i took him to the vet and got him baytril. he seemed to get over it for the most part, but to make sure, i raised the temps and the humidity to see if it would go away. It didn't go away fully, so i am getting more baytril for him..
