Is there some place where you can get FRESH shrimp/prawns?

These things are monster huge, like 2 inches long, she would only need one to equal 60 crickets.

Does she brutally shake these night crawler side to side?? Or just slurp them up like spaghetti?

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 12:25 PM
I love it when they shake them. I only have two who do that, but it's hilarious.

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 12:47 PM
Umm, she shakes them and ripps them apart! Steps on them and makes them a few pieces! It's super awesome! Haha

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 12:52 PM
Lol. She needs her own worm eating theme song.

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 12:53 PM
Oh she has one, I sing to her while she eats.,, haha kidding!

Gungirl
02-28-12, 01:07 PM

BarelyBreathing

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 01:10 PM
Hahaha, I want her to love me! I'm taking my time, I started handling her, for 15 seconds a day, she doesn't hiss or tail whip that's good... Omg I was reading this one site, I'll try and find it again, they said to tame your savannah monitor put it in the bath tub an hour a day and play with it, also drop your cage temps a bit to make it more docile... Wow

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 01:24 PM
Yeah, the guy who wrote that accidentally let his monitor drown. He (in his own words) compared himself to a terrorist. Other people who have taken his advice have killed their monitors through drowning. :(

Please don't do that.

So when you hold her, are her eyes open? Does she use her tongue?

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 01:27 PM
Her eyes are open, and she flicks, but it's just picking her up in we enclosure I don't pick her up outside of it, I just lift her from the substrate and put her on the Reyes stack! Taking our sweet time :)

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 01:31 PM
I find the easiest way to pick them up, once you're at that stage, is to guide them with food up your arm, then fold your arm agaisnt your stomach, so their head is in the crook of your elbow and their body is resting on your forearm against your body. This allows them to still feel secure, and it helps them when they can feel "ground" (your arm) beneath them instead of having their legs dangling.

Lol. She needs her own worm eating theme song.

Probably going to embarrass myself, but oh well.

Used to sing little ditties to Chomper all the time.

When certain animals bring out joy and happiness, expressing it can get kinda weird I guess.

Hahaha oh Wayne! Hedy: I lead her up to my forearm! I never tried outing it to my Stomach! Ill try that for sure tomorrow! Ive honestly never thought I could form a bond with a reptile... I thought they were just cool to have, but when I got my sav it's like I have a daughter! Me and my girlfriend alough she lives 5 hours away and I see her every 3 weeks, we call her our daughter! And our 3 ferrets our kids :) she wants a hedge hog to! We have our own little family :) and she has 5 more years of school to become a doctor! And I have 2 to become an electrical engineer!

BarelyBreathing

I sing little random made up songs about everything, all the time. I don't even realize I'm doing it half the time.

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 01:42 PM
Hedge hogs are fun. I used to have one named Smoke.

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 01:46 PM
That's sweet! We might get one, do they smell like ferrets?

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 01:47 PM
Nope. Not even close.

Just a word of warning, though, if you don't keep the enclosure impeccably clean, they have a sour smell.

Bradyloach
02-28-12, 01:49 PM
Sweet! I'll probably get her one then :) they look sweet! We love pets! She wants a beardie to but I said no cause she travels down here lots and that would be stressfull

Our dog Diamond, we call her Di Di (pronounced Die Die) all the time.

"I'd just die if my di di died, if my di di died I'd die"

It's kinda funny when you sing it out loud.

Try to get the whole ones though if you can. About 40% of the vitamin/mineral content of the shrimp is in the head and guts.

infernalis
02-28-12, 05:48 PM
No such luck here, those have the guts in them, but the heads are already cut off by the time I can buy them.
