Hey guys, i dont know if this is normal or not. But my GTP wont eat frozen/thawed, Mainly because there is someone else in the room (He is super shy). He will only eat when he is alone, Which Is understandable. But that makes me have to feed live food. Will they grow out of that shy eating mode?

Why don't you just leave the f/t feeder in his viv and stay out of the room for awhile. One of my corns will only eat if I put a towel over her viv for some privacy and security.

He has no interest in f/t, He will ignore it. If it doesn't move he ignores it. Haha. Plus, The place i got him from said he was only feeding on live.

So you feed live and you don't watch to make sure he doesn't get bitten? That is really un safe. Try Feeding F/t off of tongs covering everything with a towel so that the snake can't see you only the food, that way you can wiggle the food to get him to eat..... Never feed live unsupervised PLEASE!

I have no choice. He won't eat! I have sat there for 2 hours and waited for him to grab the Fuzzy. (Knowing that a fuzzy will not hurt him) I walked out to see if he would grab it with me out of the room. 5 minutes later I walked in the room and the FUZZY was gone.

Try a insect dish that vibrates the bugs. It sounded crazy to me but one of the local cornsnake breeders said it was the only way one of her snakes eats.

so wait it out! When the snake gets hungry enough, it'll eat.

Agreed if you hold out long enough he has to eat sometime and it won't always be on fuzzies day it will have to eat something that will have the ability to hurt it and if it's unsupervised it can mean injury and even death for your snake

When the snake is taking larger rats are you still gonna leave the room and let them fight it out??? You need to break this behaviour now before it becomes a situation where the snake could be killed everytime you have to feed it.
Personally i would try prekilled for a while and see if he will take that and then gradually switch him over to f/t or jsut leave him on prekilled - at least he wont get hurt by his food then.

I agree with Rob on this one. Wait it out and only offer pre-killed or f/t. Especially pre-killed, smells the same and eventually he'll be hungry enough to eat. It's tough love but it's for his safety.
