Hello everybody. I am 16 and own a Crested Gecko. I am interested in getting a snake so i thought I would start to learn before I just jump in to things. I always wanted a reptile but just recently got in to it. I want a smaller snake that can be normally handled. Any suggestions welcome. I was thinking of a corn, milk or king snake since they don't get to big. I also saw a sand boa that I liked but am not sure how easy they are or how big they get.

Great attitude to have, welcome to the forums! Sand boas stay pretty small.

Hello and Welcome to the forum. I have to recommend getting a corn snake for a first time snake. I Love mine! He has always eaten very well, he is more active than my other 2 and he is more fun to handle. The only thing I will say is that it you get a really young one they are/can be flighty for a while until they get a bit larger.

You said corns for a first time snake but I like Kings a lot more. Is there a lot of difference between the two.

Kings have a tendency to be cannibalistic, watch out when you have em near any other snake :P

Not that you would have two snakes close enough to eat each other unless you were breeding ;)
