I know your all gonna say it doesn't count becasue theres no pics, but i need to tell this story anyway.:) As i mentioned in a previous post i recently hooked up with jerry the snakeman (jerrythesnakeman.com) and have been working with him learning to handle aggressive snakes and eventually work my way up to venomous. Yesterday I had an awesome session, practicing mainly with smallish boas and a couple really mean ATBs. Amazingly enough, i didn't get bit throughout the whole session. When we were wrapping up i asked if I could handle his 8 foot yellow anny, becasue i've been considering acquiring one. This snake is very tame. As i was handling him everything was going fine. Then he went around my shoulders, and i should of ended it there, but my inexperience got the best of me, and i let it continue. Then he began to show signs of wanting to loop my neck, not aggressively, but still an issue with a snake this size. I freaked a little and without thinking went to move him. However, his head was behind mine and i couldn't really see what i was grabbing at. I grabbed him about 5 inches behind his head. BAD IDEA. He didn't like this at all, and tagged me twice on the neck! Leaving behind a bloody wreckage of teeth holes. After Jerry took him off me and i calmed down i continued to handle him with better technique and we were both fine. Just goes to show any snake can be "aggressive" even though it was my mistake that drew the strike. I just thought it was humorous because ive been building up this first bite in my head, and although painful, wasn't nearly as abd as i thought a snake of this size would be. Makes me fearless of "small" snakes like my 4 foot carpet. :p Thought this was a cool story. Thank you for reading my absurdly long post.:)
