Hello folks,
This is Annie and she is absolutely awesome, even if i do say so myself.lol.
she was bitey as expected as i got a very warm welcome the 1st time i picked her up, 5 big kisses and she also stole my OH's cheery as the 1st snake to tag her, which she handled surprisingly well.

Is that the kind of conda that gets longer than a person is tall?

haha kinda, she is a yellow so should get somewhere between 10 and 12 ft, no-where near as big as a big green female and very slow growing so wont have to worry about that for a while!

HA! You are braver than I Ding. Around Feb went to a big reptile expo in Arlington Tx. and saw a MUCH bigger one. Owner was to busy to answer the question I just asked you. Considering I am only 5ft I try to keep my snakes as big or smaller than me LOL

haha generally from what i heard they are aggressive and unpredictable but within a week the biting completely stopped, which is a good thing as they can strike from 90 degrees either side of thier head not just in a straight line like most snakes and it was repeated strikes not just a wee warning shot but after a week of daily handling she calmed right down to no biting at all, some change in such a short space of time, just hope she stays that way!lol!
you could prob handle a wee male they dont get that big and grow super slow so plenty of time to grow with it but the strength is unreal i have to say, she is stronger than some of my boas who are nearly ywice her size!

I would think the bitey behavior is probably because they are heavily bred anywhere thus the aspects that are in longer bred snakes like balls aren't "bred out" so to speak. She sounds absolutely viscious though! Good on you for taking her abuse. Love certainly hurts sometimes.
And I will stick with my snakes staying under 5ft for their entire life ;) Got lots of smaller animals at home that thanks me for that!

yea i think you might be right there, the girl i got her off was only the 2nd person in ireland to ever produce them, and super cheap too tbh, very under-rated snake i think and yea she was a lunatic, the 1st time i picked her up when viewing them she got me 5 times i think, i didnt really notice the way i was holding her just how bad she got me but i went to put her back in her tub and noticed nera the whole back of my hand was covered in blood but tbh thats what sealed the deal and why she came home with me!
and yea ya cant go wrong with small snakes either, love hoggies, tho still havnt got one in the collection and i used to keep garters, have a soft spot for them as they are what started me on the slippery slope all those years ago!

thanks mate, would definitely recommend them like as long as you dont mind getting bit repeatedly for the first while of owning it. other than that they are quite inquisitive and love to burrow, mine will happily curl up in my pocket or hood or anywhere it can squeeze itself into!lol. and she loves to hide completely in the bark with just the nose sticking out, makes it interesting trying to remove her from her tub!

Sounds like you have your hands full, I have never owned an annie but i know people that do (greens) and its a must to hook train them. When they get bigger they are gentle as ever once in your hands if you've accustomed them to it, but its getting them there thats difficult at times. Hook training them will save you allot of grief.

yea mate i will def start hook trainin her once she gets a bit of size to her but shes fine at the min, as i said a full week of daily handling and she calmed right down, havnt been tagged since. and from what i gather from talking to a few conda keepers they usually start as they mean to go on, as in if calm when young generally as a rule will tend to stay calm when older and vice versa but there is always exceptions so just hoping she does tho i do like my snakes a bit fiesty, makes it a bit more interesting!

Might want to hook train her before the size becomes an issue

nah mate i see no need for it anytime soon, wouldnt even have a hook small enough to work with her tbh. plus i dont really see the need for poking at her with a cold metal hook when she is more than happy for me to lift her out by hand.
if she does turn aggressive as she gets older i will certainly implement a hook but as of yet i see no need, plus i prefer to take a hands on approach whenever i can.

Regarding the cold hook, i place my snake hook and spray bottle in the retics terrarium, that way they are both warm and don't surprise the animal i plan on using them on more then is needed.

ya no that is a very sensible idea. i usuallty lust leave each snakes stuff on top of thier vivs but thats clever, think i shall put that to use actually.

With mine the only way i can tell is by picking him up and looking at his belly. It will be pinkish. All three times he has bit i could tell he was getting ready to by his behavior. He will seem real agitated and flighty. Normally he will just wrap around my arm and be relax.
