I've been seeing the Canadian flag under lots of usernames lately. :)
I must admit I'm beyond bored, so I thought I'd see what everyone thought of the election tommorow, it's going to be my first time voting, and I think its; really important~ I haven't commited to any one party, so I think I may just put in a blank vote. Any one else feel like sharing their opinions on a certain party to a new voter? Could you believe no one cared on facebook? lol

Seeing as they aren't likely to do anything they say their going to do I've been looking at it like "Am i just voting for the best lier?" Stopped voting last year.

Yup, it's a pretty conflicting sitution. .I want to vote for the party that actaually addresss issues going on. i'm really tired of seeing smear campains. 'he didn't come back for you!' and succch~ i don't think i've heard much mention of the seal hunt, or the oil sand, or the fact that most students are going into the workforce thousands of dollars into debt. o.o exactly why i think im putting in an empty ballot.
green party <3 type in voting compass on google and they will ask you questions and put you on a chart showing you the parties you're closest to

I look at voting this way:
Essentially, I'm being strapped to a chair with electrodes duct taped to me and the guy from Saw comes in and asks me if I have an orifice preference. I can't say as I do. They're all going to screw me. Perhaps slightly differently, but I don't want to give them the satisfaction of telling them how I like it.
^ lol
I've never voted, never will. I do however respect otheres opinions on different issues. Politics is not my cup o' tea :)

The theory we try to put across in the UK is that if you dont vote you cant complain about which ***hole gets into power. :)

I dont go too far in depth - just read the manifesto outlines for each party and then decide which is closest to me believes and morals.

When they do the exact opposite of said manifesto every single time, does it bother you?
I always vote for the most obscure party possible. The green party, the Marxist party, the Steve Fredrickson party, whatever. If absolute power corrupts, absolutely no power is a safe bet, right ?
Anyways, in yet another showing of their infinite ignorance and stupidity, Canadians have voted the Darth-Vader-Hologram back into power. More power than before, actually, as they now have a parliamentary majority. Hooray.
These are the same people who essentially turned Canada into a fascist dictatorship when they had the governer general intervene and stop an election a couple of years ago, because it was so obvious that the conservative party would be left a smouldering ruin.
Lucky for them, three years later, the liberals put up a 'formerly' Canada hating CNN commentator as their candidate, the NDP put up the robot with the moustache, and the Block Quebecois doesn't even have 5% support in Quebec (this is your queue to disband guys). So, the holographic fascist wins.

i voted conservative, just because harper seems to be the only one getting anything done around here, Jack Layton... i cant see him representing our country and ignatieff isnt exactly leader material either. unfortunately Green hasn't a hope in hell in getting anywhere since they only won one seat and the separatist bloc quebecois have three... oh well, 22 billion into our military can't be that bad, and besides, they're all liars aren't they?

You voted for Harper?
Wow. And you have a Trudeau quote in your sig.
You sir, have very screwed up and conflicting political beliefs.
"exactly why i think im putting in an empty ballot"
A 'blank vote" is not only a waste of your time getting to your polling station, but a waste of paper and the time needed to discard your vote into the trash.
Should have stayed home and saved yourself the "effort".
As for the election results; I feel they turned out exactly as it should have;
The Liberals deserve to be punished for chosing two complete idiots for the leadership helm of their party. Just over 10% of the seats sounds just about right.
The Conservatives deserve a majority government to do what they want to do without 18 year old MP's trying to talk like they know anyhting about anything.
The NDP winning (a dominant) official opposition; lets the other two long entrenched parties know that they're going to need to account for their checks and balances.
The Bloc; it's about time, no one ever took them seriously anyways, now even their own Province has shown their non-confidence.
Green: hahahaha!

The conservatives deserve a majority government? Are you serious? Look at the Harpwhore track record. Name one thing on it you're proud of as a Canadian, or that you agree with. Seriously?
Sure, they knocked a token amount off your sales tax, but they hit you with that same amount, and more, everywhere else, in ways that are more difficult to spot, such as the price of (everything), taxes on things like:
environmental recycling fees
cigarettes/alcohol/fuel taxes
How screwed up is our country getting? Honestly? You want me to pay five cents for a plastic bag, and somehow a municipality is allowed to pass this by a federal government that's off smoking something. You want me to pay an environmental recycling fee on a fricking car tire or a computer screen, but then the federal government supports a tar sand extraction project which is so so so devastating to the environment (can you say oil spill the other day? Big one? Alberta is sticky at the moment) that it belies description.
Not to mention that proroguing parliament was absolutely deplorable, and Harper has made Canada a non-questioning bitch dog to the whim of the USA. Is Canada even a country anymore? Isn't it more like USA lite?
I didn't say I was a Conservative, nor did I say I voted Conservative. I feel (as does well over 40% of the voting Canadian public) that we know the evil Harper is, and most are not willing to gamble on a new evil. Stick with what we know.
I think everything worked out as it shoud have this election.
Now, no more elections 'til 2015.

It can lead to some interesting debates if people can put ego's aside and hold back on the insults, sucks that they always derail after a few pages though.
True, but that rarely happens.
