Errrr HELP

So my new JCP has had mite, I think and I just cannot get rid of these bugs. I do not actually see any on her but shes been covered in white specs all over. I just ordered some provent-a-mite.

The white specs are mite feces right?

put her in a tub with a lid and warm water if she has mites you will see them floating around in the water. Im not quite sure what color mite poo is

Little white specks that move are not snake mites.

Snake mites are black, and there feces is too small to even see.

Our Royal Python had the little white bugs once, I gave him a swim in the bath tub, washed out his cage really good and put brand new substrate in, and never saw the little white specks again.

Could it be common lice?

No. Common lice (as in head lice are host specific (as are snake and wood mites) and would have zero interest in cold-blooded reptiles.
Like Wayne, I tend to think that unless you have x-ray binocular spidey vision, you couldn't see snake mite poop. So my guess (and a VERY educated one at that as I've had great experience with this) is that they are in fact common wood mites; brought in on a loose bedding, or wood-based substrate. They are completely and absolutely harmelss to anything, unless it's made of wood.
Not much you can do short of a funeral pyre to eliminate them.

wood mites get my vote, it was aspen, I now use coconut fiber, and have never seen them again.

Preditory mites hypoaspis will rid you of wood mites then die when there no more food

If they are harmless, and easy to get rid of, why would you want to do that? XD

Just mentioned it because it was said earlier ther was not much you could do to get rid of them and preditory mites are a purdy easy way to rid yourself of mites and are harmless exept to other mites lol

how humid do you keep your enclosure they could possibly be springtails my friend had them under his water bowl one day

The enclosures humidity is about 50 percent. The white specs don't move or anything so I dont think the specs are mite or an animal of some sort. I've read on different forums that the tiny white specs are mite feces.

I know mites are tiny and the thought of being to see their feces is hard to believe but think of this; in the mornings when you wake up and wipe the crust from the corners of your eyes. The crust is actually skin mite feces that accumulates over the night. We can't see these skin mites but we can see the evidence of their company.....

If only some of it is skin mite faeces then there is no way of knowing the percentage without testing, if only 0.1% is faeces then the statement still stands taht you cant see mite faeces............

Lol I think the point is that with build up you may be able to see mite poooo im not sure though lol and because im not sure im gunna ask if would it be bad to treat for mites if they are not mites?
