A snake typically takes a week to get used to a new home. My advice would be not to disturb it for a solid 7 days except for cleaning his home. Do not mess with him, pick him up, ect. ect. Don't even try to feed him. The more you mess with him or disturb him the longer it will take for him to adapt to his new home.

Balls are nervous hide away snakes for the most part. I didnt see mine without hunting him out for the first few months. he now comes out and antagonises our cats by moving up and down the viv the other side of the glass form them!

oooo i hope mine starts to do that in a few months! mine hides away most of the time too except at night :-) i am glad that she doesnt seem to mind being picked up....shes actually accommodating shes in a ball at first cause shes startled when i lift her hide but as soon as she sees me coming or feels my finger, shell stretch right out towards me yesterday she started to climb onboard herself! did i mention i warm my hands up before going in there? lol
i read that a snakes brain is too small to feel emotion and that is really doesnt care one way or the other...they tend to put up with it cus we are a heat source..... not sure i believe all that ( i admit i tend to humanize) but i believe the bit about a heat source :-)

We have had ours for years now, he still lives under his hide.
He only comes out to eat, crap or shed & occasionally to try and escape.

Dont heat your hands up too much - he might think you are dinner!!!

lolol, my thoughts exactly xD
luckily your hand is out of his eating size range, but he might bite you out of fear of the "unknown" heat source creeping up on it :) lol

Was kinda weird - wasnt my first snake bite so when he grabbed my index finger i just relaxed and thought he would let go, he hten manouvered so that my finger was literally pointing down his throat and suddenly i realised that my finger was behind his teeth and starting to go down his throat - thats when i decided action needed to be taken! I ran cold water over his head for about ten minutes and finally he spat me out!

lol. i've had my little BP for just over 2 weeks and he's not very active either. he eats like a CHAMPION every time. i've spent the last week holding him every few days for about 20 minutes and when he's super calm i put him back in his cage. i've been trying to continue this regiment so he doesn't feel like i'm going to eat him and stress out.
i feel like it's already helping. in the beginning he would stress out super easy cuz he saw me as a big threat. now every time i take him out his breathing seems much calmer and he isn't freaking out anymore as much.
i fed him last night and he's been contently hiding with a nice meal in his belly ever since.
omg omg omg you had to say that didnt you well no more hand heating for me! sheesh!
