So my 2 month old sandboa is trying to shed, has been since yesterday morning. I first saw him rubbing on everything and then he stopped. I picked him up today and noticed that his skin is still on and doesnt look like hes made any progress.
Can I assist him with a water dish or something? or does a shed take a while (its my first one)?
[His substrate is walnutshell and he has roughwood in the tank.]

hmmm maybe your humidity is way too low? or maybe he needs a soak? i'm not sure, other people will have more input. i've never had a sand boa

My ksb always shed fine, but she also soaked inher dish..... I had sand for substrate too, its not recommended but I used it and she shed fine... I say to give em a soak.

How long is the avg shed? a day?
Think I could put him in it myself? Or should I let him discover it on his own?

Time can vary from snake to snake should only take short amount of time after the blue clears up

Eryx has been in shed for almost a week and she still has over two thirds of her body to go. I've tried a warm bath as well as a humid hide. I've also tried rubbing her with a warm damp towel. Is there anything I can do to help?

I just went out and bought mine an Exo Terra rock hide and it came with moss. Filled it with the moss and some room temp water and put it in the cage. I showed him the way in and less than two hours later he had it off. I had to help a little at his tail but it came off easy!
