Hi all. This is my first post here so here goes.

I have a common boa, about 2 years old and approximately 4.5 - 5 feet in length. The temp in her viv is 90F on the hot side and 83F on the other side. Up until 3 months ago she was feeding regularly ever 2 weeks. She would have 3 large mice. Then she stopped feeding and refused all offers of food. We were advised to try her on rats, but she refused these. So we had to go back to large mice. As i said that was up until 3 months ago. We've tried to feed her on several occasions, and at first she seems interested, but then just either disappears into her cave or goes to the other end of the tank. I'm at a loss as to what is coursing this. This is my first snake and I've had her since she was 3 months old. She is regularly handled and loves being made a fuss of.

If anyone could shed a little light on this I'd be most grateful.

Mick

Hello and welcome!:) As he lost any weight? Does he seem alert and active? This is mating season for most snakes and a lot of them will quit eating this time of year. My big Jungle Carpet won't eat from the end of November till the end of March or beginning of April.

Hello and Welcome aboard! I am dealing with the same issue with my female Nic. Boa right now. She has just hit breeding age this year. She has been a great feeder for me and for her previous owner, but for the past month and a half has refused every meal. I have been keeping a close eye on her. She has not dropped any weight, she is not dehydrated, and she is as alert and active as always. As long as none of these things change, I am not too concerned. I think your boy will be just fine also. Best of luck!

Sounds like he might be goin in to brumation. I would just keep him at his normal temps if you are not planning on breeding. Keep checking on his weight and that he is drinking though.
