Ive been offered a 2 yr old male common boa. hes coming with a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft viv all for £120. im going down to see him tomorrow and see him feeding and if i want him im going back for it next weekend.. ill post pics later as hes emailing them to me at about 8.... any advice on care or handling of these snakes.?? x

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see pics! As far as handling goes, Just grab under the tail, lifting gently raise the body, another hand somewhere under the midsection, make sure you support the midsection and they will do the rest. Oh, and of course don't let them around your neck. Good luck to you!:yes:

its only carpets i keep so cannot comment on the needs of your boa
all i would say is give it the respect a snake of that size deserves
and NEVER put it round your neck
look forward to pictures if you get him mate

as far as most boas go, you would need to really do somthing like swing it around by the tail to get it to bite you, if their was no food around, i dont even know of anyone with a boa, other than rainbows that bite out of anger, maybe a little pissy and hiss during shed, but they are great snakes to own.

I was at a local petshop they had a huge albino python the owner says its harmless and put it around his neck. Needless to say it bit him and tried to choke him too lol.

hahaha funny.... anyway i went and had a look and i didnt get him.... he ended up being about 7ft, heavilly overweight with fat deposits and he seemed very lethargic... shame though
