color change

my guyana red tail lost the color in his tale is now brow? will it ever be red again and hpw could it change i have 2 50 watt lights one red one white

most adult "red tails" I have ever seen have a reddish brown coloring.

As with many species, the colours tend to change a bit as the age.

this was more drastic i have had him 1 week when i brought him home it was bright red the only thing i can think of is maybe he is going into shed ? or the lights tanned his skin i dont no if thats possible thats why im asking

OK, he's going into shed, it will be all shiny new again after that old skin comes off.

thanks could the lights "tan" his skin or darken him up anyway
