Hi my name is Chloe and im from North Carolina. I have been wanting to get a baby ball python for a while but never had the funds cause i wanted to get everything i needed. Luck has it i got a gig working for an exotic pet expo here in Raleigh in two weeks and i get tons of deals off supplies and even babies. I was wondering if i could ask advice on my first baby ball like handling tips, care, feeding and most important what supplies should i stock up on since i get discounts for the show, to get for everything for my new baby. Thanks everyone for reading!

food i would say, substrate if your not going to use newspaper, a couple designer hides, some vines and fake plants would be nice. mainly i would say stock a few months of frozen food,if your getting a baby snake maybe get a couple months of one size and a couple of the size up from it. i read 1 year supply can be held at one time any longer and its no longer healthy. i buy like 6-7 months worth at a time.

thank you guys so so much! !i really appreciate it!. yea i went to petco and they have these cool packaged frozen snakes, my friend was with me has a kingsnake and said that petco went down on the price for frozen mice so i thought that was cool. i was thinking about putting a few months worth in my deepfreezer. snakes eat frozen mice or thaw it out? thanks all again for the info :-)

definately thaw it out fist in fact i heat mine up in warm water or with a blow drier to get them at a live animals body temp

I defrost overnight then heat the prey item using the vivarium heater - the snake then picks up the heat signature and should strike feed.

ive been going to a lot of pet places and ive priced a lot of stuff . a lot of it is pretty expensive, but hopefully ill be able to get a few things at the pet expo when i work. is there anywhere i can find gently used supplies on here people are looking to sell or get rid of?

most pet store will sell cracked aquariums at a discount price. you usually have to ask to see them and if you go that route make sure the glass is not in too bad of shape. most only have a chip missing but they can't sell it as an aquarium as the glass structure could be compromised and nobody wants 100 gallons of water on there floor. that being said they usually make good reptile cages.

hmmm ive been advertising in tons of petshops too. i could have been asking away. i never thought about that. they had one snake tank that had a huge crack down the side im sure wouldnt be a good choice to buy. a friend of mind told me today he would sell an old tank to me for 10 bucks. im excited. now for the undertank heater . couple more essentials and the snake.
