hey all,
i was searchin around and found bigappleherp.com for the selling of boas. i have ALWAYS wanted a phenominal looking hypo pastel and the sell them. im not one to buy a snake online without seeing it but they post

superior quality hypo pastel boas A+ quality

with a picture of this awesome lookin hypo pastel with it.http://www.bigappleherp.com/core/media/media.nl?id=6645&c=583636&h=f5ed3864312cf0b85057

now im not going to buy one now, or if i was, i would certainly get pictures of some that were currently for sale.

so do you really think that buying from a big company like this is a good idea? they look very professional and this boa is certainly a poster child for all the rest so im not saying they all look A+ material... watch think?

im not sure of them because im in canada but some people here buy snakes all the time from some popular breeders, I have only heard bad things about large pet selling companies, most likley in the next few posts people will link you the breeders they have gotten and what they think :)

i usually like to check out bigappleherp even though im from canada, i know they have their own breeding facilities, but can't say i've talked to anyone who has purchased an animal from there. supplies yes and it was a very happy response, i guess you could go old fashioned and call them or look them up on fauna classifieds

Do a search for them on the Fauna classifieds Board of Inquiry and this comes up:
Bad Guy Big Apple Herp - FaunaClassifieds (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191323&highlight=Apple+Herp)
Big Apple .. - FaunaClassifieds (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6603&highlight=Apple+Herp)
Good Guy Good Company [Big Appl Herp] - FaunaClassifieds (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138068&highlight=Apple+Herp)

Seems like mixed reviews to me. The bad guy thread refers to their hypo pastel boas though and it throws up a red flag to me. The boa in the picture from them is severely underweight and dehydrated. Any time a company deals with large volume of animals, you are going to see both good and bad reviews. Take Outback Reptiles for example. I've bought from them several times at shows and have had nothing but good experiences, but I know others who have had problems with them.
A good quality hypo boa or hypo pastel boa is not hard to find. I personally would wait out until you can find one from a smaller breeder who is more familiar with his/her animals. I see hypo and pastel boas at all the shows I go to. It's a beautiful boa in their ad picture, but if you look at the animal in the bad guy thread, it's light years away.
